Dan64 31 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago I'd like to play a HDR 10 movie on my SDR Monitor/TV. Unfortunately the client (running on FireTV) is unable to automatically select the transcoding. I tried the "Playback correction" but still the video is played in "Direct play". The movie is 1080p and I could set the max playback resolution to 720p to force the transcoding, but I'm not happy to lower the resolution to solve this kind of problem. It could be nice if in the emby-client will be added an option to play a video with transcoding, without the need to apply workaround to solve a simple playback problem. Thanks, Dan
pwhodges 2018 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Did you try clicking playback correction more than once? The first thing it tries is not transcoding. Paul 1
Solution Dan64 31 Posted 2 hours ago Author Solution Posted 2 hours ago The real problem was that the "isolate" environment used by Emby for ffmpeg was not compatible with my hardware (cpu Kaby Lake) and software (Debian 12). I wrote the attached guide that describes the the steps that I implemented to get the trasconding working on my system. Dan Technical Guide - Enabling Intel HDR Hardware Tone Mapping.pdf
