MediaIntelNUC 30 Posted Friday at 05:13 PM Posted Friday at 05:13 PM Hi! I have searched the forum for an answer but no luck. Is there a specific reason that the only option for Opensubtitles is the .com version with download restrictions in time and number of downloads, and not the .org with unlimited downloads? Thanx! N.
Luke 42133 Posted Friday at 05:38 PM Posted Friday at 05:38 PM Hi, the org version is no longer supported by opensubtitles and will be shutdown in the near future.
MediaIntelNUC 30 Posted Friday at 06:40 PM Author Posted Friday at 06:40 PM (edited) Hi @Luke Thanx for your reply. Where did you get this info? I know about the API but that was way back if im not mistaken, and last time i tried it, about a month ago on Plex, before i switched totally to Emby, the Org. worked just fine, and Emby has been restricted to .Com for longer than that. js28194 41 Posted Friday at 07:06 PM Posted Friday at 07:06 PM It's been a couple of years now if I recall they announce back in 2024 they were retiring.... you can google "opensubtitles org retiring" I don't blame the development team for taking the lead back then to retire it. One less firedrill to think about last minute as it was known to be retiring.
MediaIntelNUC 30 Posted Friday at 07:14 PM Author Posted Friday at 07:14 PM I thought that was just the API for Kodi etc.. The first hit on that google search was: "OpenSubtitles.org has largely retired its API for free users as of the end of 2023" I downloaded subs form .Org manually as late as today without problems..im not VIP and never have been and used it for Plex since long after 2023, so I didnt really get it to make sense.. kikinjo 290 Posted Saturday at 09:05 AM Posted Saturday at 09:05 AM @Luke Why in opensubtitles plugin we dont have anymore option "hash matching " ? Before when this option was available, subtitles were matched and downloaded automatically, now even on same filename on movie / tv plugin is not downloading it, in 90% cases you need to download it manually.
MediaIntelNUC 30 Posted Saturday at 11:30 AM Author Posted Saturday at 11:30 AM @Neminem Thanx for clearing that up

Not sure what do you mean by that, hash-matching was never part of plugin settings but individual library option - and it's still there both in stable and beta versions? 1

Option is in library options, that is correct, but it does not work at all. When u search manually for subtitles there is no indicator for hash on subtitles match like before at all.

Having no issues with either automatic nor manual downloads: 4.9.3.0 4.10.0.5 Maybe you should open a topic to troubleshoot. 1
