Back on page 2, OP did state he/she/it went into windows firewall and uncheck some things so thats another vector to consider.

That should not influence localhost, I think.

True, but who knows what he/she/it did as following simple instructions has been... well, you all are reading the thread so you know.

@js28194that's true.

But what op does not know today, op might know tomorrow 😉

So there is still hope.

Likely no, but hope...

Right, so your machine IP is 192.168.68.54.

1. Open up a browser on your server machine and navigate to http://192168.68.54:8096

2. Try and do that from another machine, could be your phone/tablet browser if you have a device on the same network.

3. Open up a command prompt (Start menu - type  Command, select the Command Prompt entry that comes up. Next enter the command netstat -a

4. Show us the screenshot of the first few entries. They will be in order and we need to look for the :8096 & :8920 entries. If they are not there then the server is not running.

Your can just delete all DLL files from C:\Users\jason\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\plugins

Also your server is not running, you will need to find the emby server executable and run it. Either go to your start menu and search for emby and select it (make sure it’s the emby server and not the emby window client app if you have it installed).

Alternatively you’ll need to use windows explorer to find your install path and double click on it there.

You’ll know it’s launched as you’ll see the emby icon in your task icon area and if you run the netstat command again. If it isn’t launching then that’s what we’ll need investigate next.

Apotropaic, Luke, Lessaj, Neminem, js28194, and everyone else appreciate the help. It seems to be up and running now. Do anyone know what could have caused it to crash?

You deleted all the plugins...?

Crashes are beyond my level of understanding but it needs analysis of your log files. Sometimes there is no ‘reason’, often it’s a plugin misbehaving or a large number of database changes all at once.

As for accessing your instance outside the home, this is going to depend on a lot of different things and how comfortable you are  with respect to security etc. and the upkeep of it all.

Questions for you will be, what will you be using to access it outside of your home? iOS apps, android apps or just a web browser?

What kind of internet router do you have at home? Is it one supplied by your ISP or something you’ve purchased yourself?

Personally I would enable HTTPS and also obtain a signed certificate (free version are available). HTTP will work but then you’re open to other people snooping on your traffic and obtaining your account passwords.

You'll also need to harden all your passwords and change the settings so they aren’t displayed.

I would change the HTTPS port, if you’re lucky you may be able to use the built in emby port mapper which will configure your internet router for you. If not you will need to do this yourself.

You also need to check to make sure your internet provider hasn’t put you behind a NAT…it’s get complicated lol

But have a thanks about the questions I’ve posed first.

Combination of your comment about the plug-ins and Apotropaic comment.

I deleted the plug-ins, but it didn't respond until I did the other part. Thank you again.

All of the above. It use to work than it suddenly stopped. So, iOS, Android and web base use for external.

Service provided router, eero.
