Version 4.9.3.21 - Scroll arrows only work with "My Media" as the section type (1-7). All other sections types fail to scroll. *Note: I have to make the Emby window small to make the "My Media" arrows appear. "My Media" contains 4 items, Movies, Original Movies, Collections and Concerts. how are you testing these versions?

d00zah 151 Posted March 9 Author Posted March 9 Thanks for narrowing things down @scottproI've tried an uninstall/reinstall & see no behavioral improvement... any update, @Luke? 1 1
step55 9 Posted Wednesday at 07:29 PM Posted Wednesday at 07:29 PM Emby Theater has basically been unusable for the past week. The workarounds are onerous, and the devs have essentially been silent. As a user it would be nice to have some certainty that if I don't update anything on my end then I should be somewhat protected from breaking changes being pushed through from the backend. Or at the very least, some kind of quick resolution when problems are highlighted. Could you please provide an update as to when or if the horizontal navigation issue will be resolved for the legacy version of Theater? 1

Thanks.
d00zah 151 Posted Wednesday at 09:43 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 09:43 PM This topic involves Emby Theater v3.0.20 (Server v4.9.3.0) specifically. While I originally mentioned all fields on the Home Screen... Latest...', 'On Now',, 'Continue Watching', I have since found it extends to 'Artist' / 'Album Artist' album lists... pretty much anywhere horizontal scrolling is required. It doesn't. Across multiple Win 11 clients. @scottprodetermined what changes introduced the problem & it appears to affect other clients similarly. As there are changes in the beta server related to such functionality, I suspect accommodating them may have affected those of us running the stable server release?
step55 9 Posted Wednesday at 11:12 PM Posted Wednesday at 11:12 PM As others have said - the left/right navigation arrows (that appear when "Enable TV display mode" is disabled) don't respond to mouse clicks, which makes convenient navigation impossible. I'm using Theater version 3.0.20, and an older server version - 4.8.11.0

step55 9 Posted Thursday at 07:22 PM Posted Thursday at 07:22 PM @d00zahalready provided a screenshot earlier in the thread - here: https://emby.media/community/topic/146671-emby-theater-v3020-server-v4930-homescreen-horiz-navigation-broken/#findComment-1510703
Luke 42160 Posted Thursday at 07:37 PM Posted Thursday at 07:37 PM Can you try a fresh install of the app as it seems to be working in my testing. Thanks.
step55 9 Posted Thursday at 10:44 PM Posted Thursday at 10:44 PM A fresh install shows the same issue. Interestingly the navigation buttons work properly if I access the affected pc via rdp from a different pc on my network. This might point towards a solution? I've also just tried installing on a different Windows 11 pc, and the problem doesn't show up. But that's no help for my Emby HTPC. The affected pc is Windows 10, UHD 605 graphics, latest drivers. 1

How exactly did you do a fresh install?
step55 9 Posted Friday at 03:58 AM Posted Friday at 03:58 AM I downloaded this: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/emby-theater-windows/releases/download/3.0.20/emby-theater-x64.zip Then unzipped to a new folder and ran Emby.Theater.exe

This might point towards a solution? I can confirm that clicking the mouse on the horizontal scroll arrows does work when connected to the target PC using a RDP session. When clicking on the scroll arrows locally on the target PC does not work. The arrow does grow in size when the mouse is hovering the arrow but does not respond to mouse clicks. Windows 10 PC (RDP) -> Windows 11 PC (running ET 3.0.20), arrows work with mouse clicks Local Windows 10 or 11 PC (running ET 3.0.20), arrows do not respond to mouse clicks (no scroll) Using latest 4.9.3.21
Symen_4ab 3 Posted Friday at 02:46 PM Posted Friday at 02:46 PM A friend reported the exact same issue on my server today. Client Emby Theater 3.0.20, server 4.9.3.0 She's using the keyboard arrows for now.

RDP mitigates the problem here, as well.... but should not be considered a solution.

Yeah, I think the "using the keyboard arrows" is a better workaround than using rdp Just did the test, I can confirm this issue using emby theater 3.0.20 on my local server running 4.9.3.0. (same issue connecting to the beta 4.10.0.5 server, this is of course a client issue) Edited Friday at 09:51 PM by Symen_4ab typo
Symen_4ab 3 Posted yesterday at 10:19 PM Posted yesterday at 10:19 PM FYI, I managed to fix this by cloning the https://github.com/MediaBrowser/emby-theater-windows/ repo, building the solution, and replacing the content of %appdata%\Emby-Theater\system\x64\electron with the freshly built one. Don't forget to make a backup of your files if you want to try this.

Don't forget to make a backup of your files if you want to try this. That repository uses Electron 8.5.2.0 which is really old. The version that is packaged in the deployment, "emby-theater-x64.zip", uses Electron 11.5.0.0. https://github.com/MediaBrowser/emby-theater-windows/releases So it may be working with an old version of Electron, but not the latest one. I also tried using version 3.0.20 and 3.0.21 and they both experience the issue. Both use Electron 11.5.0.0. FYI, ET version 3.0.21 was pulled a while back because the mpv-1.dll was not working correctly. I have ET version 3.0.21 backed up and replaced the broken mpv-1.dll and it works fine.
scottpro 13 Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago 25 minutes ago, Mahinepua said: What’s the difference between 3.0.20 and .21? 0.0.01 ... lol Not sure, probably just an update to mpv-1.dll. You'll have to ask Luke for details.
Mahinepua 82 Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Yes that’s what I understand the only change was too.
step55 9 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Playing around with different versions of files seems fruitless in the long term given that the issue appears to have been pushed through to us without our involvement. The only things we've heard from Luke about this are variations of "It works for me", or "Try restarting / reinstalling", or "Describe the problem again" We're all used to seeing years of "good idea for the future", but this is not a feature request, it's an app breaking bug that means we've been unable to properly use this version of theater for almost 2 weeks now. It's absolutely not good enough. @Luke are you taking this seriously? Is there any resource allocated to finding a resolution? Can you please engage with the users in this thread and let us know what's happening?
Mahinepua 82 Posted 59 minutes ago Posted 59 minutes ago Unforntunately, Embys resources are probably stretched. If it was an easy fix I'm sure they would have done it, even the new app's latest beta still hasnt been pushed to release and it tidies up a few things. If you look hard enough on google you will find a (non-emby) version that works offline and has all dependicies built in that should work ok.
