d00zah 149 Posted yesterday at 05:19 PM Posted yesterday at 05:19 PM Left/right navigation of the Home screen (w/ a mouse) has been in various stages of boned for the last few days. Originally, all rows were shifted all the way to the right, requiring navigation back to the left-most item (most recent). Now most rows appear centered w/ navigation buttons @ both ends of each row, but unresponsive to mouse clicks. I imagine this has to do w/ the ongoing beta customizations? I've seen similar discussions elsewhere, but unrelated to Theater. Given the dynamic update nature of Theater, this seems to have slipped in w/out any changes on my part? Guide has been fine. Unsure what info beyond a description would be helpful, but ask away. TIA
Mahinepua 81 Posted yesterday at 07:12 PM Posted yesterday at 07:12 PM Theater is no longer getting updates to support new server features or changes I'm afraid. At some point the Emby team will probably advise not to upgrade past a certain server version like the old WMC. Have you tried the new app? The latest beta which wont be far away from being released has been tidied up, only thing it doesnt yet include is external player support.
d00zah 149 Posted yesterday at 07:22 PM Author Posted yesterday at 07:22 PM I'm aware, but my environment has been static since the v4.9.3.0 release & yet, Theater behavior has changed, so they are messing w/ things somewhere. To address your question re: the new Windows app... my IPTV tends to terminate quickly, albeit randomly on the new Windows app only. Since IPTV sources are considered a semi-tabu subject & Theater has always been stable & time precious(-ish ;^), I'd chosen to stick w/ what worked for me. That has changed.
Luke 42113 Posted yesterday at 07:38 PM Posted yesterday at 07:38 PM Hi, please try restarting the app and see if that helps.
d00zah 149 Posted yesterday at 07:50 PM Author Posted yesterday at 07:50 PM (edited) Thanks for looking, Luke. No change, even after a reboot. Observation: Once a left/right arrow is clicked (selects row), left/right kbd arrow keys still work to navigate. Edited yesterday at 08:08 PM by d00zah
Mahinepua 81 Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago I'm using IPTV and havent had any issues except with recording when streams were slow or buffering, not an emby issue. Could be a different timeout setting in the new app with IPTV maybe, Luke might know.
d00zah 149 Posted 22 hours ago Author Posted 22 hours ago All clients periodically freeze, but this is different. Browser/FireStick/Android phone/Roku/Theater have all been tested in parallel w/ the Windows client over time. Only the Windows app stops playing & falls back to the guide... often. That said, only Theater/Windows client are suitable for my particular use case, so I thought I'd raise a flag.
Ralph's Emby 17 Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago I can confirm, with Emby Theater if I click on left or right arrows to navigate any selected segments like "Latest Movies" it does nothing, doesn't work since yesterday.

scottpro 12 Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Navigation in ET seems to function correctly for me. Using the keyboard, mouse and remote. Not sure what you mean by "clicking on the arrows" because there are no arrows on my screen (Latest Movies, ...). Perhaps a screenshot would help. I tested with TV mode enabled in both Vertical and Horizontal and disabled. To scroll the "Latest Movies" list with the mouse I have to click and drag the list from left/right. ET version: 3.0.20 Server version: 4.9.3.0 data-appversion: 4.9.3.21

scottpro 12 Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Gotcha. Yeah, I can confirm that those "On Screen Arrows" do not respond to mouse clicks. In order to get these arrows to appear you have "Enable TV display mode" disabled under the Settings->General tab. The arrows do not appear with this option enabled.
Ralph's Emby 17 Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago @Luke Exactly what @d00zah post with image.. With mouse if I click on it, nothing happens, used to work 2 days ago.

I have this disabled...toggled yesterday while pokin' around, but interface a NO GO for anything I need. Mouse/keyboard. Had hoped it went without saying. Sorry.

The latest beta which wont be far away from being released has been tidied up, only thing it doesnt yet include is external player support. That is not actually true. The ET "legacy" version (not the Windows App Store version) is still supported and actively updated through a web content server. The ET "legacy" app is basically a container app that runs on Electron and js. It also contains the MPV lib which supports native movie playback and enables ET to render it's OSD controls on top of the MPV rendered final image which give a seamless playback experience. Updates to the ET "legacy" app only update Electron, local js scripts, mpv-1.dll and any external apps like RefreshRate.exe. All other app functionality is driven by the external web content (html, css, js, json, ...) which is updated to the latest server version. This web content is cached locally when pulled on-demand from the external web server and is version controlled, hence the "data-appversion", which is currently 4.9.3.21, which aligns with server version 4.9.3.0. When the "data-appversion" is bumped it invalidates your local cached files and the new version files are download on-demand. Sometimes this version bump may require restarting ET as it may be still using an old local cached version of the files. In comparison, the Windows App Store version bundles all the assets into a deployment package which has no web content dependency and is written exclusively in C#. Updates to this app are controlled through the Windows App Store. Kudos to @Lukeand his dev team for keeping this legacy version active. This version works best for me because it does not restrict usage and updates to the mpv-1.dll. The Windows App Store version locks down the mpv-1.dll from updates and disables loading external mpv.conf, scripts and plug-ins. Edited 3 hours ago by scottpro
Mahinepua 81 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) The new app does allow mpv.dll updates in the same way as legacy, yes the directory is more difficult to access but not impossible. I updated it 2 days ago with the lastest mpv build. Softworkz can probably comment on the restricted usage. Edited 1 hour ago by Mahinepua

Yes, I know how to replace the mpv-1.dll in the protected WindowsApp folder but it's a PITA. In fact, I had a long chat session with Softworkz about this a while back. Also, Emby disables the loading of conf, script and plugins when it initializes the mpv-1.dll. I have a modified local build of mpv-1.dll which enables me to override the loading options if I'm forced to use the WindowsApp version in the future. Currently I'm using the modified mpv-1.dll which fixes the Dolby Atmos audio issue. This is getting a little off topic, but informative. Edited 1 hour ago by scottpro
scottpro 12 Posted 41 minutes ago Posted 41 minutes ago More info for devs. This issue started happening with version 4.9.3.20 . Version 4.9.2.19 works correctly .
