brothom 206 Posted February 27 Posted February 27 When listening to songs via the web player, the webplayer sometimes just "stops" at the end of the song, which looks like this: I've been trying to localise the cause of this issue but so far, all I've noticed were a number of "Uncaught (in promise)" messages: 22/#!/videoosd/videoosd.html:1 Uncaught (in promise) undefined Pressing play produces the following console log: basehtmlplayer.js:1 Uncaught (in promise) NotSupportedError: The element has no supported sources. BaseHtmlPlayer.unpause @ basehtmlplayer.js:1 PlaybackManager.unpause @ playbackmanager.js:1 PlaybackManager.playPause @ playbackmanager.js:1 (anonymous) @ videoosd.js:1 This issue doesn't seem to only occur when the tab is out of focus. I've kept the tab on-screen on another monitor but still the player eventually gave up. Pressing the "next" or "previous" song buttons bring the player back to life. It's pretty annoying because I'm trying to use this as background music but have to walk over to my PC every now and then to manually go to the next song. This time it gave up after exactly 20 songs. I'll keep a count when it happens again.
Luke 42197 Posted February 28 Posted February 28 Hi, for background playback you will probably want to use an installed Emby app. The browser is likely pausing or throttling the tab to conserve resources.

Yeah I figured as much. Kind of suprising because other platforms (obviously the big ones like YT and Spotify) didn't have this issue for me. Perhaps they implemented a workaround?
brothom 206 Posted March 1 Author Posted March 1 Today I was using the app and the first playing the shuffled library it stopped after the first few songs. Pressing "next" to play the next track and it didn't occur again. Just like in Chrome, the player in the app stopped near the end of the song without any message or notice. I'll see if I can reproduce it again.

It doesn't seem to happen after a specific amount of tracks. It's almost like some timeout somewhere. This also occurs no the Android App. A way to prevent this from happening seems to be to every now and then go to "next track" manually. It seems some sort of timeout / inactivity thing though.Â
brothom 206 Posted 3 hours ago Author Posted 3 hours ago Having this issue on the Emby App as well as the browser(s) and was able to reproduce it every time when I went for a run yesterday: 1. Open the Emby App 2. Go to an Album 3. Play the album and turn off screen 5. After (almost always, exactly) 2 songs, playback stops Skipping next, picking another song in the playlist does nothing, playlist is unusable now 6. Stop playback using the square button 7. Click the next song in the playlist -> repeat from step 5 It seems to be some sort of sleep mode issue, not disabling the screen has less issues but eventually (after about 10 songs or so, also in Chrome) the same issue will occur. Issue also seems to occur with audiobooks / chapters. Â
