Daftpunkmx12 6 Posted February 26 Posted February 26 Hi, I've been having problems with my Emby server. It keeps stopping unexpectedly, and I don't know how to read or interpret the logs. Can anyone help me figure out if there's something wrong with my server or with the Emby server itself? Only the Emby server stops; the server itself doesn't shut down, and I have to run `service emby-server restart` to get it running again. I've attached the logs from before it shut down and after restarting the Emby server. I hope someone can help me. Thanks. embyserver.txt embyserver-63907649703.txt

Luke 42312 Posted February 26 Posted February 26 OK that’s strange. Are you able to update to Emby server 4.9 and see how that compares?

I already updated to 4.9 and it goes worst, it stops due high ram consuming, fortunately I made a full server backup before update and I made a downgrade to 4.8 again.

SajanSharmaNZ 2 Posted March 2 Posted March 2 I'm experiencing something similar after upgrading to the latest version from 4.8.11.0 - but it's causing my entire machine to power off (guessing emergency shutdown). I've checked emby logs, journalctl, dmesg - and none of them have anything to hint what's causing it. I have been running 4.8.11.0 for a year without issue. embyserver-63908081816.txt embyserver-63908084292.txt embyserver.txt
SajanSharmaNZ 2 Posted March 3 Posted March 3 (edited) I upgraded to the 4.10.0.4 beta version and the issue persists there too Edited March 3 by SajanSharmaNZ

I recently upgraded from 4.8.11.0 to 4.9.3.0 and Emby server is shutting down from nowhere, I need to execute “service Emby-server restart” to wake up. I attached the last log before gets inactive but I don’t know how to find/read/interpret any error or something. embyserver-63911706273.txt

I would suggest trying to read some system logs to see if Out of Memory is killing the app?

After upgrading Emby server uses more RAM memory and because of this server gets inactive, before upgrading this not happens in almost 1 month, do you know how much is the minimum of ram needed to work smoothly Emby ? I have only 6GB RAM memory but that’s was enough from almost last 2 years before 4.9.3.0 update

EmreWest 0 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Hi, I have a similar issue and posted in the Docker topic about it: I also had the problem on 4.9.3.0 and it still persists on the newest beta. I really want to avoid reinstalling everything since I have a pretty big library and already had to reset my database a few weeks ago due to a problem caused by a power outage. But even before that I had these problems of emby server crashing. Maybe there would be another fix? Would be nice to learn where to look for crash logs to see what causes the crashes.

Try to set 64MB instead of 128mb on the DB settings and do a server reboot, let me know if this helped you 1

It is too much, some changes was made in the DB and if you don’t have enough RAM this will be consumed with a couple of user’s when the app start 1

I also found another topic in here talking about the transcode path and it defaulting to the RAM if not set up as a path on the drive: I also created a mount for a local folder and use it as the transcode path in emby now.

I don’t really use transcode, all streams are direct play because I don’t have too much ram
