Sorry, the subject is deliberately chosen a bit polemic, but I am honestly confused what I am missing here.

I assume almost everyone uses Emby mostly to watch movies or other high quality video and many people will have more than a stereo setup. But under Linux, neither Chrome not Firefox support DTS and the server transcodes to MP3 stereo. So how are you all using this? I see 3 possibilities:

  1. My Brave plays AAC just fine in 5.1. Can I get Emby to transcode to that instead of 2ch MP3?
  2. Kodi. Been there, done that. Works, but in principle, I am very happy with a web player and don't want a full screen mediacenter.
  3. Emby Theater, which apparently isn't broken only for me. (In my case on Ubuntu+deb, I loose all control once a playing video goes fullscreen)

Is the situation under Linux really that dire, or am I missing something?

Hi

Well the new Emby player for Linux should fix your issue no ? No need to use anymore the browser ;) and you can setup in it with lot of details how you want audio to be played !

Sorry, what is the new Emby player? Reading here suggests it is not Emby Theater, because that isn't new, it has been broken for people for years as it seems.
