Metadata refresh overwrites Album Artist

I run my Emby server on the latest Ubuntu. I edited Album Artist names to set it to Various for all tracks in one folder and saved the information. Confirmed it was saved by returning to edit. All was OK. Then i refreshed metadata with an option to refresh only missing data. The server replaced all my entries with the original information disregarding the setting on the refresh metadata page.

Should i never refresh metadata after I make changes? What is the proper way to make these changes permanent and also used by the server correctly?

Looked at the logs but could not find any relevant information.

If you fix you mp3 tags with Mp3tag you don't need to edit artist / albums / songs going forward.
