The display name field is first.  If that got autofilled with your email, it wasn't the forum that did that.  It was your browser.

Funny, i have never experienced my browser do that. Why is this place the first time that have ever happened? And i cant change my nickname either until after 50 posts. Strange rule dont you think?

What if i put in some strange name like Dick Johnson, but then regret.. "oh noes, its emby forum, not "badjokes.com". Do you really want that weird name all over your message board before youre able to change it?

What i introduced myself as Ivana Humpalot from Russia, but realized i mixed up the emby forum for the LGTQB+ forum, do you still think its a good idea with the 50 posts rule before you can change your nick?

Whats the point of that rule?

You were already advised that an admin has to do that (and it is clearly stated under Member group privileges).

An admin needs to do that. @Abobader

Rookie member group cannot change Display name.

Really?  Almost every modern browser has autofill forms.

How would the forum know your email address before you entered it?

I entered it in the email form.. not the name form.. that it "magically" ended up there is quite baffling because i didnt write it twice and im yet to have my browser auto-fill my email anywhere else.

The reason i did that was i followed guides from chatgpt

I know I shouldn't respond, but against my better judgment I'll still do it.

You're seriously blaming everyone around you, because YOU decided to brainlessly follow an LLM's instructions?

Follow the Emby guides, do the things that people suggest you do. Not some magical bullet list that's been conjured by amalgamating a bunch of random words into directions. Please, please THINK before you do next time. Not just with this, but with ANYTHING you read on the internet.

Excuse me, but what is a "LMM instructions"? You mean asking chatgpt for solutions when the damage was done?

No, i didnt follow any instructions, i just look trough the settings since i was seeing how emby worked but i obiously mistyped 1 number and then locked out the admin account.
And i blame bad design for being able to lock yourself out with a wrong setting in emby.

So whats the problem here? Shouldnt a paying customer be allowed to complain when they could make a simple improvement that would have prevented this?

You never make mistakes so now you think youre entitled to sit here and moralize over everyone that do, is that your point?

Who else here think its IMMORAL to make a mistake ending up with locking yourself out of the admin account and then complain about it being a design flaw in emby when you even have paid for it?

To make it clear here: I understood the settings perectly fine and had no reason to follow any manual.

Lets see who the trolls are in here. Brothom stepped forth, but by some of the grumpy replies i got i bet hes not the only one.

Heres another one for the "holier than thou"-trolls in here:

I shouldnt have had to pay for emby at all. I own synology and they nerfed their product by removing videostation.

Ok so beside this increasingly toxic debateculture we have here attacking me as a person for pointing out a designflaw and blowing my email out on internet with no option to fix it after the moderators here have been asked MANY TIMES now to remove my email, if you dont act soon im going to report this forum for violating the GDPR law.
