Android Emby Client App - Unable to load past the splash screen

Hi,

Long time follower first time poster... Not too sure what the rules are for new topics vs adding a thread to an existing one, so please be kind 😉

I'm not sure what's going on but I am unable to use the app on my daughter's phone.

Sequence of events:

  • Today I installed Emby (latest 3.5.28) on her Samsung Galaxy S10.
  • When opening the app to set it up, the splash screen (Emby logo) appears, a spinner briefly appears and goes away.
  • After a while (30s+) I give up, close the app from recents and try to re-open. Same result (spinner and then nothing, just Emby logo visible).
  • Cleared cache and data for the app, same result.
  • Uninstall, reinstall from Play store, same result.
  • Uninstall, switch to beta channel, reinstall, same result.
  • Uninstall, download a couple of old versions of the .apk online and same result.
  • I attempted on different internet connections (tethered and via VPN) and can access the NAS via the URL on the phone, but the app still won't load in.
  • Checked that I can access app.emby.media on chrome on the same device - all fine there.

So this is on a fresh install and I'm unable to reach even the server selection/emby connect login page I'm used to. Very strange.

Any help appreciated!

Hi. If you give it more time does an error message eventually come up?

Hi @Lukethanks for the quick response, no nothing appears  I left it for about 10 mins (the screen locked) and nothing appears or changes. Very strange behaviour.
