bobbee001 4 Posted February 15 Posted February 15 The movie volume when using emby is very low. I have found a number of other users from years ago with the same issue. Has a solution ever been reached.?
visproduction 326 Posted February 15 Posted February 15 (edited) Bob, Have you tried adjusting Windows / Settings / Sound / Master Volume? Edited February 15 by visproduction

Are you using an Android box that perhaps has its volume low as its volume is separate from your TV or home stereo volume. Are you watching a movie with DTS? Are you watching a movie where the audio is being transcoded? Are you watching a movie that is being downmixed from 5.1 or 7.1 to stereo? Are you watching a movie with AC3 audio? Are you watching a Christoper Nolan movie? You've given the community basically zero to work with. Luke or another staff member will probably chime in shortly to tell you to "Please follow the rules in regards to reporting a problem." Please be more forthcoming in regards to the information you are sharing to have your problem solved. The only times I've ever encountered this problem is when the Android box I'm watching on has its volume lowered or while watching a Christopher Nolan movie as the mix on his movies are terrible.
bobbee001 4 Posted February 16 Author Posted February 16 Emry is on my pc, watching via Roku on tv, I need to turn up the volume when using emby for any movies/tv show. I am watchin all that you mentioned except I don't nkow what a Nolan movie is. 5.1 strereo, some dts and some not, some audio being transcoded and some not, Some 7.1 down to 5.1, all standard audio types. I have read many forum users with the same issue, they send logs etc, but it is never resolved. HAVE THEY FOUND A CURE FOR EMBY LOW VOLUME ???//
js28194 41 Posted February 16 Posted February 16 (edited) Yes, the solution is buy better hardware. Emby doesn't control volume levels. On the Emby app, there is a volume slider, when turned all the way up, it moves to your TV HARDWARE/BOX. Whatever your hardware can output that is what you are going to get. bobbee001 4 Posted February 16 Author Posted February 16 Where is the volume slider. Note my cable tv, Plex server both have a good volume level. I have an onkyo rz30 one of the top home theature amps. The issue is Emby
visproduction 326 Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Bob, The Onkyo has many volume presets for Zones and input output types. Maybe one of those is set a little low. Did you check these setups? https://www.manualslib.com/manual/3642773/Onkyo-Tx-Rz30.html?page=83#manual

Volume is perfectly fine at 15. Yes I am using my main PC as my playback device. Windows 11, with an Nvidia 3080 and the TV is hooked up via HDMI with ARC going to a sound bar.
visproduction 326 Posted February 16 Posted February 16 (edited) Ranma, Yes of course, something could be going on with Emby. HDMI ARC, I believe allows for preset volume, as well, plus the sound bar. Just double check all controls to see if there is a preset for the HDMI volumn, or with Roku. If Emby's volumn is up full, then plugging in headphones to the workstation should be loud. Maybe try plugging in headphones also to the amp, the TV and, if possible, to the soundbar. Some soundbars have a visible volume level. I am just guessing. Can there be a lot of volume controls and one is automatically starting low, by design? Edited February 16 by visproduction
bobbee001 4 Posted February 16 Author Posted February 16 (edited) Where is there an emby volume control ? HDMI, Roku Ultra, All video types have the same volume. Watch tv, watch application thru Roku Ultra, listen with earphones - same volume for both. Got Plex server via Roku, same Volume. Go to Emby have to crank up volume. It is something with Emby Edited February 16 by bobbee001

For instance, if your media or settings are such that your audio is being transcoded, there is a volume setting for that. Note that if the media is direct playing, Emby is passing on the bitstream unchanged - in which case the issue is in your equipment's handling of that bitstream. If other people are not having the same problem with similar setups, shouting won't help them suggest where your problem might be. Paul 1
bobbee001 4 Posted February 17 Author Posted February 17 Where is the transcode audio setting. IF you search on low volume there are quite a few posts from a few years ago with this issue, but none have a solution. I was hoping maybe there has beeen one. I wasn't hollaring, maybe a little frustrated with answers that a moron would know.
