Scrolling issue - Jumps back to top

Scrolling is a nightmare, especially when images are missing and you have to manually identify each time it goes back to the top. If you have 17,000 items, it's pure agony to map them all. Sorry to jump in, but it's a total chore and I completely agree it needs to be reviewed and fixed.

Every time you guys ask for a specific example, do you not test what you develop?

Ok 👍 let us play the game see attached 😉 I find the media missing, click identify, type the exact same name as the media shows and wow it identifies, then when I click back it does not go back to where I was, instead it starts from the start of the folder again, 17,000.times later it is a nightmare!

Yes agree, scrolling back to the top is still an issue with the client app - the standard Android app at least.

It happens every single time you make an edit on an item, change metadata or image. Click 'Save' and you're taken right back to the top of that long list.

While I appreciate the hard work that goes into Emby's development, I am writing out of significant frustration regarding long-standing issues that remain unaddressed after two years of reporting. It feels as though new features are being prioritized over the stability of the platform's core fundamentals.

Again on the following persistent bugs:

Metadata Identification: Media frequently fails to identify automatically, yet the correct metadata appears instantly when I manually type the exact same title into the "Identify" tool. Why is the automated process failing to match these?

DVR Playback: When playing back recordings from HDHomeRun, the aspect ratio/window size shifts incorrectly when skipping forward. This has been an issue since the last major release.

Web Streams: The system consistently attempts to load streams as https even when they are explicitly set to http.

Memory Leaks: Transcoding issues are causing memory leaks, forcing a server reboot every 18 hours to prevent a total crash.

User Lockout: There is currently no manual "force unlock" for users, which resulted in a 58-hour lockout during the last occurrence.

I value this project, but the current experience is becoming untenable. I am asking the team to please pause the rollout of new features to focus on fully testing and resolving these "real-world" stability issues. We need the fundamentals to be reliable.

Scrolling back to top is not just in an app but in a browser as well.

I doubt if new stuff is going to be paused cause people have been waiting a lot longer for the new stuff (i.e. frequently requested stuff over a longer period of time) than fixes. IIMHO.

There was already a fix for that in 4.9.1.90

4.9.1.90

  • Fix lists scrolling back up to top after editing metadata

I cannot reproduce in the web app with the same above steps (i.e. editing metadata, images and clicking 'Save') - However I can reproduce it by clicking on a missing actor image, having it load, then navigate back to movie details page and then back to the long list. I'm taken back to the top again.

@Luketwo different behaviors in the web app and Android app.

Well, I guess I'm just illustrating that I can get 'that kind of thing' to happen in a browser. I was just trying , checking things out, and if I go to TV Series, scroll down, anywhere really, pick a series with several series in it (I've never differentiated between seasons and series), click on an episode, then back out to the (all the series view) I end up at the top of the list again.

Sometimes it does the same if the series actually consists of only one series.

Editing images also causes this kind of thing, just couldn't find any to edit today). Guess there are several ways to get this.

100% does happen in the web app.
