I had to un install the emby app from my Nvidia Shield because it just went to a black screen when I last opened it. I then installed emby again, but on the login screen it says my name is 'never' and my password does not work.

How can I change the name to what I had before.

Hi.  What version of the app did you install?  Are you connecting to your own server or someone else's?

There is an "enter manually" button on the screen somewhere you should press to enter your credentials.

I'm not sure what version of the emby app yet , but yes I noticed enter manually.

Yes I am connecting to my own NAS server

I tried to login manually but it didn't accept my password, so I did the forgot password option and it say it has sent a password reset txt to my ember server on /var/lib/passwordreset.txt.

Now I'm not sure how to get to it

I have found out but the problem is that there is no /var/lib in the shell of emby.

I now have another problem with the emby app for tv. I un installed the Android version and then installed Android TV version.

This is where emby thinks my username as never, it isn't and has never been. I used the password which I have used previously, but it is invalid. I don't see any option for forgotten password, so what can I do.

My username on emby server is MyEmbyUser, and the password I have works no problem, but the same username and password on the TV version doesn't work

I have cleared cache and data,  tried every combination of MyEmbyUser, emby embyuser etc for the username, but they are all invalid. the only user name it will accept is 'never' , but my emby password doesn't work.

Any ideas please

So that is going to mean that no password is going to work anymore except for what is in that file, correct?

It sounds like it, but the problem is there is no passwordreset.txt in embyserver files anywhere, as I searched for it last night and no file by that name

After googling the problem it says 

verify that "Device Access" is set to "All" in your user profile on the server.

Ok so I go to my user Profile, and look for Device Access, but I can't see it: Which heading is it under.

I finally managed to login to the emby app on my tv.

I un installed the app again after i cleared the data and cache, then re installed the emby TV app.

This time a pin number came on the screen which I had to enter on emby's website? which I submitted. then my emby server appeared on the screen. I clicked on that and that was it, back working again

Fair enough ,  and it wasn't meant for me to use another username. I don't know how it happened.

My guess is you have two Emby/Connect accounts and, when you logged into the app with Connect as you describe above, you switched users.  Your Connect user and forum user are the same.

Ok thanks, but I had forgotten about one or the other account, when trying to log in to the emby app before.

Anyway, as I say, the emby tv app is up and running fine now.
