juszat65 1 Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Hi . I new to emby server on my qnap nas. Started to copy my movies onto a nas using makemkv. So far i started with my blue ray /dvd collection . I copy the movie into my nas movie folder. On my emby i have a movie folder with several subfolder one is the movies another is the folder besides other included in emby . All my initial copies are showed up in the movies subfolder. Many older movies had the title_t00 instead the actual movies and i started to rename them using the metadata manager and the tmdb to get images and movie codes. I also changed the moviesnames the same way in the qnap datamanager movies folder. In emby all of a sudden many of my downloads which was in the movies subfolder disappeared and can only seen in the subfolder"folder" . In the "folder" the left upper corner shows a little movie icon of all the movies which is in the movies subforder . The others does not have them . How can i correct this so that all my movies shows up in the movies subfolder.
brothom 177 Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Hey there @juszat65! 1 hour ago, juszat65 said: Many older movies had the title_t00 instead the actual movies and i started to rename them using the metadata manager and the tmdb to get images and movie codes. For example: X:\Movies\The Godfather (1972)\The Godfather (1972) - Remastered.mkv X:\Movies\Shrek (2001)\Shrek (2001).mkv This way it won't matter which software you use for your media server, they all handle this formatting. Can you provide screenshots of both the page showing in Emby and of your files so we know how/where they are on your drive?
juszat65 1 Posted February 12 Author Posted February 12 I am including a few screenshots. Other than changing the movie title names( in emby's metadata manager and in the filestation 5 on my nas and jpg posterimages using TMDB codes . I havent changed anything
Neminem 1515 Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Well that naming scheme might work. but pay attention to folders and subfolders with movies inside. Movie Naming and before you ask TV Naming
juszat65 1 Posted February 13 Author Posted February 13 Thank you for your responses and pointing me to the right direction. I tried to follow the instruction but i still not sure where do i have to make changes . I thought it maybe my filemanager where the movies on my nas are. However its not the right place . Is the title name in the emby metadata manager is the right place? The file location shows at the top on the metadata manager when i select a movie. Something along the line of /share/ CACHEDEV1_DATA/movies/movie title. Mkv So if i change the title name using the naming convention ,will that be the right place to do it? I am very new to this and have no skills of working with consol window
visproduction 315 Posted Friday at 08:00 PM Posted Friday at 08:00 PM Just, The naming guide refers to the actual file name, not the file title that you can change to anything you like inside Emby. That title is just an entry in the data base. Emby has to find the content first and that is done by getting the file names correct. That is the name of the file on the server in each directory when you use a file manager app or run a directory search of filenames on your server, nothing to do with an Emby entry. If you don't match those file names exactly as suggested in the guide, Emby will not find the content.

Happy2Play 9780 Posted Friday at 11:14 PM Posted Friday at 11:14 PM (edited) My question would be what filter do you have applied here as it could be affecting that specific movie showing first in Movie tab vs Folder tab? ie 26 items on Movies tab vs 39 items on Folder Tab At the same time both tabs are being sorted differently also as the Folder tab is by File Name and the Movies tab is by Title. Even though 99% of the time they should be the same but not everyone's setups are per the KB naming schemes. Edited Friday at 11:15 PM by Happy2Play 1
juszat65 1 Posted Friday at 11:25 PM Author Posted Friday at 11:25 PM Thank you. I will do a directory search . Is that file name i find with a directory search / file manager the one i can change according to the naming convention if it needsto be changed? The other question i have as i am in thee process of learning everythink i can is 5hat i started to read about setting up make mkv properly. My output folder is custom and its called //mynas//movies On my filefolder 5 i have a movies folder and all my movies shows up and read by my server. But i wonder if this "simple" output name generated proper filenames. Any thoughts on it . In the meantime i take a look to see if i can find or download a file manager ( that probably will answer my above question )
juszat65 1 Posted Friday at 11:34 PM Author Posted Friday at 11:34 PM This is for @Happy2Playi dont know what filters means in your question . One thing i noticed it is originally all my movies showed up in my movies subfolder. After i change the title names in the emby metadata manager some of the movies disappeared from the movies subfolder and can only be seen in the folders subfolder ( all my movies shows up there ) and i cant figure out why. 0erhaps finding my files and their names using a file manager helps me . But maybe something else causing it. All my movies shows and plays fine. I need to check on my ugoos am6+ coreelec if it looks and plays fine .

The 'blue' icon indicates there is an active filter on that view. Click the blue icon, and then click 'Clear filters' Also, ensure both tabs are using the same Sort Order, i.e. change both to 'Title' to do a proper comparison. 1 1

Per your Image the Blue bubble shows you have filters applied. As your item count shows one view is filtering content out. Edited Friday at 11:39 PM by Happy2Play 1 1
