Using Emby App with no Smart Playlists or Lowering Storage Space

I have tens of thousands of videos served by a Windows 11 PC with the Emby server running to several Android TVs. For the latter, I use Kodi with the Emby add-on because the SMB server process is dodgy: when scanning, some folders sometimes don't show up. I think I also tried using an FTP server once, and I think I experienced problems with streaming some videos.

Things are more stable with the Emby server.

The problem is that the Android TVs can run of out space due to Kodi saving database content and thumbnails from Emby. To fix that, I have to attach a USB flash drive for each and then let Kodi and other apps load content there. There's a delay when the TV is started or restarted before Kodi and other apps show up. Also, I get this feeling that they run faster when they're in the TV internal memory.

I can use a media player connected to the TV, but the latter's more convenient.

I bought the Emby app, and it solves the storage problem, but it does not have features like Smart Playlists (I tried two addons but had problems with them, e.g., the settings would not save) and several favorite lists. I tried some addons for the first but they are not stable, and I found a workaround for the second by adding selected videos to a new collection.

There's an EmbyCon but it's not as convenient as Kodi with the Emby add-on. There's also MySQL, but I think I still have to resort to SMB for that, which is dodgy in Windows.

I'd like to know if there are ways decrease the storage used by Kodi with Emby, or if there are ways to have smart playlists with Emby. I read that that's been in the pipeline for around a decade, but someone might have an addon that works.
