yodayun 0 Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Ok so here is my setup: I'm paying an ultra.cc server in the Netherlands to host my services there. At home, my internet access box is connected with Ethernet to my PC, and my Android TV (a Sony Bravia) is connected to internet via WiFi. Until yesterday or Sunday, everything was working fine, my app had access to my server and was able to play directly from the Emby app the movie/tv show on the TV and same on my PC with the desktop app or browser directly. However, something happened (TV update or Internet provider update) and now the apps on my TV don't recognize/ find/connect to my server AT ALL whilst my PC is still working absolutely fine. what I tried: - Uninstall and reinstalled the app on TV (and on the phone to try out) - Reset the internet provider box - Turned on/off the TV and the internet provider box - opened ports on the internet provider firewall settings - Used Emby connect I "see" the server added manually on the app but it says server unreachable/connection timeout I can only think that something was updated on the security settings on either my tv or the wifi network, but I can't find anything related to any of that.... Anyone has an idea? I'm currently working around the issue by google casting the movie/show from my PC to the TV...
tollgate 8 Posted February 10 Posted February 10 I would say you need to go into the wifi settings on your TV to check it's actually connected to wifi
yodayun 0 Posted February 10 Author Posted February 10 Did that and it is. I also tried to "use" internet on the tv (youtube and such) and it works fine
yodayun 0 Posted February 10 Author Posted February 10 I wondered and I don't think so. and trying to connect to it "manually" through the app doesn't work either. I also tried it on a mobile app to see if it's TV specific, and it doesn't work either, so it has to do with the wifi connection, somehow. I have one idea left, and it's to factory reset the TV to revert back to prior of the update, but that wouldn't explain why my phone can't connect to it either.
Luke 42077 Posted February 11 Posted February 11 Quote I wondered and I don't think so Can you find out for sure?
Luke 42077 Posted February 11 Posted February 11 Are you able to check in your router? Or are you able to use the Emby web interface on the server machine?
yodayun 0 Posted February 11 Author Posted February 11 I can't access the router on the server machine, since it's a shared machine if I understand correctly, however I did reach out to their support and they told me nothing had changed. If the IP had changed I would have had to re-connect on my desktop as well, connected through LAN though wouldn't i?

Not necessarily, because in some cases this can be handled automatically by the Emby app on the device, but not all.
Luke 42077 Posted February 11 Posted February 11 are you able to use the Emby web interface on the server machine?
yodayun 0 Posted February 11 Author Posted February 11 Yes, the app is installed remotely on the server machine and I can connect to it through the control panel and use the browser version without issues (on PC) The issue arises only from trying to use another device (phone or TV) and thus using the Wifi network
Luke 42077 Posted February 12 Posted February 12 What address does your server dashboard display for your LAN address? Is it correct?
yodayun 0 Posted February 12 Author Posted February 12 This is the info from the remote server And this is the emby lan If it wasn't correct, should I be able to use the browser/desktop app normally through LAN? why only the wifi wouldn't work?
ebr 16168 Posted February 12 Posted February 12 It doesn't appear to be correct. 9 minutes ago, yodayun said: If it wasn't correct, should I be able to use the browser/desktop app normally through LAN? why only the wifi wouldn't work? That depends. For example, if you use the domain name in the browser or desktop app, then that is why it works.
yodayun 0 Posted February 12 Author Posted February 12 I guess so, so the IP changed for wifi/remote access and that screws it up, but the PC app uses the domain. But if it were the case, I could use the host/domain name to connect to it from the tv app, and it still isn't reachable through the host name. How do I change the IP it pings manually, if I can, and which one should I use from the screen above? The HTTPs one, right?

Is that lan address correct? 172 is not typical.
yodayun 0 Posted February 12 Author Posted February 12 An Orange Livebox from the internet provider, but I don't know what the server machine ultra.cc uses in the Netherlands
yodayun 0 Posted February 12 Author Posted February 12 My local ip address is defintely different, but I didn't set up/choose it for the remote server of course. And it was working fine until last Sunday
tollgate 8 Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Are you accessing the remote server using the same URL on your PC and TV?
yodayun 0 Posted February 13 Author Posted February 13 I'm using apps on TV, not a browser, so the app is logging into the remote server (normally) so no it's not the same URL.
tollgate 8 Posted February 13 Posted February 13 When I log in to emby on my PC or use the emby app on my tv/phone/tablet the URL is the same.
yodayun 0 Posted yesterday at 08:28 AM Author Posted yesterday at 08:28 AM Ok, Issue is still occuring and I've narrowed it down a bit. Tried through mobile data network on mobile to check if it was Wifi related and the same issue occurs. So Wifi ruled out. Tried to connect to the web browser of Emby with my phone, to see if I can reach the server on the browser version. And it connects completely fine. So the issue is definitely coming from Android apps. Something has changed with Android 12 on TV and mobile that makes the connection/security things a mess.
