Audio cuts out and loses sync at various parts of file until pause/resume or seek

Found this thread when I was googling for audio issues as I was watching the Director's Cut of Lethal Weapon and being annonyed for encountering two dropouts in the first 20 minutes. The first one occurred at 15:38, just after Roger says "So look!" to his police colleague, and the second one at 20:58 when there is a cut from outside to inside Roger's caravan. I had to pause at that point and investigate.

The dropouts always ocurred at the same timestamp (extremely unusual) and lasted for less than a second. I am using the Emby app with Nvidia Shield. I checked the video file on my PC, and everything was fine.

The audio always goes out of sync, and only resolves once you seek or pause/resume -- just as OP says.

Yes the more I read about this the more it makes sense with the time stamps. It's essentially where there is a uhd release with theatrical cut and directors cut on same disc so two Audio cuts and it's where the audio merges. It happens to a select group of media but it will happen at specific points where the audio does merge

I think this is the most plausible explanation.

Seems like there's no fix yet though.

@AsheAsheI saw that thread, and I actually posted there, but I think Luke removed my post and somehow made a separate thread out of it here. But I haven't heard back from him since.

i think the only solution will be to enable the "use external player" and use kodi as your player, trouble is when you enable it it asks on EVERY file what player you want to use which is a bit maddening so you'll want to turn it back off when not playing an effected file

or just use kodi directly for these files
