rbknox 6 Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Hi, I am recording the Winter Olympics on NBC and USA networks. I have done this previously with the Paris Summer Olympics for example. This time however, the behavior is strange. I see a current recording under the Active area on the main screen (and i am able to start viewing it if i hit play) However, that recording doesn't show in my Recordings folder ( Normally when there is an active recording, it will show in the recordings folder with a red ball in the corner, and then it will remain there after the recording is completed). Then, when the current recording ends, it disappears completely. Nothing showing in the Recordings folder. However, if I delete a previously recorded Olympics episode, I discover that there is still another recording. In fact, yesterday i deleted no less than 10 Olympics episodes, even though initially only 2 or 3 were displayed in the Recordings folder. To summarize, it seems episodes are being recorded but they are somehow being conflated with existing recordings. This only becomes apparent when you start deleting existing ones. I'm attaching yesterday's log file Thanksembyserver-63906192000.txt
mohoelx 12 Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Actually, when you select the episode to watch it, look for an odd pull-down above the audio format and closed caption options. There may well be multiple segments listed, each of which can be played separately, but yeah, then you have to delete that episode once for each segment, or delete the entire series (which ain't going to be good if you have more than one day's worth).... Weird stuff....
rbknox 6 Posted February 10 Author Posted February 10 I’m not seeing the pull down. I’m assuming that is one of those inconsistencies available in the desktop view but not the TV view.

And you can select a version, which turns out to be a recording segment. There are also |< and >| options on the playback control screen - though they do not appear to sequence properly. Also, not sure how you delete a segment - when I tried deleting a segment I was watching that particular segment did not delete. Presumably some other segment deleted …. Is this versioning intentional? Can you switch to individual episode recording? And if not, how does one properly manage these versions - navigate, delete etc?

The versioning presumably happens because the episode details in the guide which Emby uses are such that it sees them as versions. You should be able to split the versions apart using the button near the bottom of the episode details screen: Paul

Seems I am getting a new recording for each day - with an arbitrary season and episode designation. Then the day’s programming is divided into versions. Per pwhodges above, I am able to separate the segments using the “split versions apart” button. That at least allows me to manage - mainly delete those I don’t want.

The whole format was so different that I didn’t initially understand what was happening, nor did I see the split versions apart button. 1
