Tone mapping results in SW decoding on Intel Kaby Lake

New user here, just trying out Emby 4.9.3.0 via docker on unRAID.

HW transcoding works fine when I have tone mapping disabled, I can see my Intel i7 7700 GPU doing the decoding and CPU usage is low.

Problem is the video is took dark (as expected), so I enable tone mappnig but this results in Emby always falling back to software decoding, the errors seem to be:

13:47:58.952 Stream mapping:
13:47:58.952   Stream #0:0 (hevc_qsv) -> vpp_qsv:default (graph 0)
13:47:58.952   hwmap:default (graph 0) -> Stream #0:0 (h264_qsv)
13:47:58.952   Stream #0:1 -> #0:1 (dts (dca) -> ac3 (native))

I see a few posts around OpenCL and -1001, is this a known bug?

I've attached the transcode log (server log has references to my domain and maybe other private stuff so omitted that)

have you tried  with VAAPI tone mapping.

Not using OpenCL.

This is a known issue in the current stable release: 4.9.3.0

Thanks, I think that helps. Colors maybe a bit weird just testing...

Ah OK, presumably they are working on a fix?

Yes Emby need's to improve.

Its ether to dark "CPU" or to Color off "VAAPI" there are other options under VAAPI - OpenCL.

If that works for you, try Mobius, still off but better.

But the best solution would be to have a copy that does not need Tonemapping.

Presumably....

Stick with version 4.9.1.90 if you want HW tonemapping. The 4.9.3 release didn't add anything significant.

Thanks all, just looking at migrating from Plex so doing a bit of a comparison currently.

Biggest stumbling block seems to be music playlist functionality (I use music a lot).
