abegreen 20 Posted February 7 Posted February 7 In playlist/play all/play from here/shuffle, it plays first episode and on player close, doesn't play next. It use to work and than just stopped long time ago. Wondering if it's a bug or a feature. Maybe I need to add arguments or set different command. I use PotPlayer, but I tried other players as well. I know it worked before.
Mahinepua 81 Posted February 7 Posted February 7 Have you tried the new windows app? and have play next episode turned on within the server? Emby Theater was replaced some time ago.
Luke 42077 Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Quote In playlist/play all/play from here/shuffle, it plays first episode and on player close, doesn't play next. It is currently by design. The problem is that if you play a folder with a lot of items, there would be no way to change your mind and stop during the process and you'd end up having to click to close the external player as it keeps on opening.
Luke 42077 Posted February 10 Posted February 10 One thing we could do is put up a dialog in between items asking if you want to continue or not.

softworkz 5066 Posted February 10 Posted February 10 I think in these times, it makes more sense to expose a simple interface instead, so users can build their own external player integration (or have it created by AI).

The Android TV app uses a bit of intelligence based on elapsed time to decide whether to ask the question about marking an item watched and continuing. That isn't perfect but is pretty good most of the time. However, I believe this is the correct answer: 6 hours ago, Mahinepua said: The solution is not to use an external player,. Normally, needing an external player would mean that we didn't do our job properly.,. So far I've heard only two valid cases, one of them being about playing something which only PowerDVD or WinDVD can play (don't remember exactly), and the other was about wanting a player that can use madVR rendering (yet I don't think there's any big advantage these days)...
Mahinepua 81 Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Time and money would be better spent improving the internal player and keeping it up to date before focusing on external player support. A custom build of MPV fixing truehd bitstreaming as one example. For the rare occasion where an external player is needed, one could simply exit emby and use powerdvd or windvd. 1

Yes, that was a little annoying. You had to play an individual video to stop the process. Wasn't perfect but it worked. But if Mahinepua doesn't use that option, a thousand apologies from silly me. Anyway, I would really like to be able to play whole folder on shuffle, since I have music video mix libraries, on external player with equalizers and other small life's luxuries. Also my media is not on my local drive but multiple servers so it's not possible to use powerdvd, or whatever local users can use. Implement it, don't implement it, I'm out of here because bumpers are here to argue. Thank you. 1
Mahinepua 81 Posted February 11 Posted February 11 @abegreenWhats stopping you using the internal MPV and a system wide equalizer? https://sourceforge.net/projects/equalizerapo/ The problem with external players is that supporting them all correctly to work within the Emby envitonment is extremely difficult. Plex isnt any different. Apologies if you see the comments as argumentative, thats not the intention.
