Hi,

I'm new to emby, so please bear with me.

I installed emby server (version 4.9.3.0) on a miniPC with windows 11 on it.

Everything is fine and working well. But remotely when is playing on new LG TV, the transcoding is working well (need to transcoding because is playing 4K move on 1080p resolution TV).

But wen we want to play on the older smart LG TV any content, is not working, is not transcoding, it's just sending "direct play", and on the TV is the endless circle that is loading and nothing happening.

On the Server I can see that remotely is playin the move and it's direct playing the video and the sound also. I also can see that the play time is increasing by 2sec, until 10-15sec then is resetting to 0 sec and is starts over.

I kindly ask you, someone if can help me out to figure out where is the 'bug', please let me know any ideas you may help, I also mention that I already set in the TV app the max streaming, to 1080p - 10mbps. I try set this also on the server to force somehow the mbps and to transcode the media, but no result. I also try the "diagnostic options" plugin on the emby server, to force transcoding, but with no result.

It's like the older smart LG TV is 'telling' the server that he can direct play this media so no need transcoding, the server is sending direct play, but the TV cant play when is receiving direct play.

Thank you very much and waiting your opinions!

I have an older LG and I just ended up buying Onn 4K Streaming Device, Google TV.  Then everything works. If you can get the old LG to work, fine, but this extra streaming device is more up to date, has a lot of nice features and costs $20 US.  How much is your time worth?

Thanks' for your opinion, but I don't want to buy another things to get smarter the TV if it's already smart. It not so old, it have all the app's, including Emby. Only that I have this 'bug', that for this TV my server is not transcoding any move is sending only direct play media. Maybe it is a small thing in the settings (server side or client) that I hope to figure out here. no one has encountered the problems mentioned above?

hi Luke, thank you very much for contact me and trying to resolve my issue. Please find attached the log files that I find it on the log section. I also want to mention that after uninstalling the "diagnostic options" plugin I have other problems on all TV. If I on the server webpage, everything is transcoding well, even hardware! But if I exit the web interface and log out from the remote miniPC (here is installed Emby server), after 2-5 min the TV app is not receiving transcoded the move. I reenter then in the web server interface and I see that no hardware accelerated GPU is detected! I need to restart Emby server to see again the "QuickSync Intel UHD Graphics [1]".

Thank you very cmuh for your time and efort!

I just want to mention that I reinstalled Emby server, and even now the hardware accelerated transcoding is not working at all!

I'm attaching the log files, maybe you can figure out where is the problem. When I install windows on my mini PC, everything is worked fine (with the windows drivers). Maybe the problem is that I installed the Intel UHD video drivers from the Intel website?!

Thank you for any help!

I reinstall windows and all drivers, and now it's working the hardware transcoding. Only on older smart LG TV is not working... can someone figure out why and how to force transcoding? I try reduce the bitrate on the LG app, but is not helping.

Can you please post the media info for an example of a file that you think should be transcoding? Please also let us know of the model of the older TV.

Also try disabling Tonemapping.

And try again 😉
