Does emby connect block auth requests via VPN providers?

Yesterday my local ISP had a routing issue to my server which is in the cloud. (This has since been resolved.) I was able to use a VPN on my home network to get to other services on my server in the cloud but emby refused to connect via emby connect.

I got around it by manually adding the server IP port direct and using local account/PW. I tried several popular VPN services and all failed to authenticate via connect. Just curious if emby blocks popular VPN providers from emby connect authentication?
