yikesezxd 2 Posted February 4 Posted February 4 (edited) On Desktop, I have a series where I have to use custom season numbering in order to accomplish a certain ordering. Let's say, there's Season 1 - 4, and the seasons are simply S01Exx and so on --- so the normal formatting. But after S04Exx there is 2 spinoff seasons. So we have Main Series (1-4) and Alt/Spinoff Series (1-2). Within Emby, the folders are internally set to Season: 1 Season: 2 ... etc. The alt series is internally set to Season: 201 ... Season: 202 On desktop, things are perfect. Any weird naming schemas I use, such as if I were to have on the backend Season 10, but display as Season 1, and backend Season 20, but display as Season 2, that allows me to fit in Movies and other things in between and still accomplish proper ordering---things display as intended regardless of backend. The Spinoff series is set to backend as Season 201 and Season 202, but they display as "Main Series Alternative Season x" Which on Desktop works flawlessly. The main issue is (referencing the first paragraph) the mobile app for whatever reason, since it isnt in folder view and has all the episodes lumped into one logical viewing, exposes the backend naming schema on the episode titles... which looks terrible. Those spinoff seasons I mentioned---users on mobile actually see S201:Exx and S202:Exx. The drop down for seasons where you can select a season and jump to it, still is named properly "Main Series Alternative Season x" but it points to the episodes... which are all named S201:Exx - episode title Is there any way I can stop this from happening? Can I edit this episodic display name in any way? To reiterate, it doesnt look like this on Desktop. On mobile when I swap to folder view... which I would imagine is the easiest solution... it just doesn't swap to folder view at all... Is there any way for the episodes to use the display title instead of the backend/internal season numbers? Edited February 4 by yikesezxd adding more context/asking another question
Luke 42077 Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Hi, I'm having a hard time visualizing this. Can you please show a screenshot example to demonstrate what you mean? Thanks !
yikesezxd 2 Posted February 4 Author Posted February 4 ^ This is the show in question, on Desktop app. The only thing not in view is Season 1 which is to the left of Extra Edition. No issues with Season 1, there's just too much for the image to capture. Clicking the left arrow would show it. Gun Gale Online, and Gun Gale Online II (far right side) are the two "Spinoff Series" mentioned in the previous post. Absolutely zero issues with the above image---it is the Desktop app, and is exactly how I need it to be. Within the folder/Season itself on the Desktop app ^^^ As you can see, the episodes are simply the episode number within the season, followed by its title. This is the Mobile app ^^^ There is no folder view, so I can't go into a subfolder dedicated to the season like the Desktop app. Meaning some of the graphics for those individual Seasons (i.e. Seasonal Backdrops or Logos) seemingly get no use on mobile. Not really a big deal, but do take note going forward of the new formatting of the episodes; it now says S1:E1 - The World of Swords instead of 1. World of Swords. It's pretty obvious that the reason for this formatting is because on Mobile, with the lack of a folder view (to my knowledge, or in my circumstance) all of the episodes are jammed together into one giga-season. So if I were to keep going to the right, it would progress through to season 2, Ordinal Scale Movie, season 3, Season 4, the 2 progressive movies, then the 2 seasons of Gun Gale Online (spinoff). While this isn't ideal, it still retains the proper watch order I have set for the series, so that in itself is fine, but the main issue comes with something directly related to this. ^^^ Before I detail the main issue, an important preface; I want to point out that on Mobile app, by clicking the dropdown, I can click on the various Seasons. It does not go into a dedicated Seasonal folder for the selection, it instead points to/jumps to the episodes within the giga-season/jammed together episodes. As you can see from the images, the display names for the seasons have been retained. For example Aria of a Starless Night on the backend is actually Season 41, for ordering reasons. Regardless of how it is set on the Backend, I have it's display name as Aria of a Starless Night. ^^^ the above image shows what I mean when I say that it is set to Season 41 on the "backend" and the "display title" is referring to Emby's title section, which is also shown in the image. Here is the main issue. Gun Gale Online is set to Season 201 on the backend. It is set to display as " Gun Gale Online " Gun Gale Online II is set to Season 202 on the backend. It is set to display as " Gun Gale Online II " However, because the mobile app is not in folder view, and forcibly exposes backend Season categorizations within its titles, the episode titles all contain S201:E1 or S202:E1. While this is functional, it looks less than desirable. Logically, the theoretical solutions I would ask you about are: - Can I turn this forced mobile formatting off, or at least be able to edit it myself to display differently? Really, it should just inherit the display title of the season. It would be preferable if there was a option to turn on that would make it inherit that behavior. - Can I, on mobile, turn on folder view or somehow otherwise mimic the UI of the Web/Desktop App platform to avoid this formatting? App Settings > Home Screen > Default Screen > "Folders" option does not yield any changes for me. Unless I'm mistaken, that process is how I'm supposed to change into folder view on mobile. This is really weird, because rather than the mobile app lacking something that the desktop app has, it's more like the mobile app has an extra feature that is not desireable. Regardless, if neither of the two points above steers us in the right direction, do you have any other ideas? Thank you for your time, hopefully the formatting in this post made it a little easier to read.
Solution Luke 42077 Posted February 4 Solution Posted February 4 OK in your emby user display settings there is an option to control your season display. It sounds like you want to set it to always show season folders.

yikesezxd 2 Posted February 4 Author Posted February 4 Oh yep, just verified. That put the mobile app into the same folder view as the desktop app. Thank you so much. 1
