CyberSpock 4 Posted February 2 Posted February 2 Hi, I am switching from Synology Emby to Emby via Docker on Synology. I don't want to fiddle with Docker volume settings because they don't work. The Docker Emby app can access a library share via smb:\\192.x.x.x\Whatever and specify credentials (user/pass) and that is a thing of beauty. However, in the Backup/Restore panel, I can't do it like that. I tried setting up a temporary guest share. I get so far and then I get the "relative backup" message seen here. How can I get to the outside world? Roger

Luke 42077 Posted February 3 Posted February 3 Quote However, in the Backup/Restore panel, I can't do it like that Hi, yes this is something that we need to add to the backup and restore process. Until then though, you'd need to mount the smb share to a local path in docker, and then point the backup process to that local path.
CyberSpock 4 Posted February 3 Author Posted February 3 After getting permissions correct to the link /config in docker, the save doesn't store there, so I don't know where it's saving in the docker-Emby tree to get at it. The object is to restore from my current backup from Synology Emby. As to the why I'm doing this. I have my Synology on Tailscale. It works for SMB shares and so on. But I can't get to Synology Emby with that IP address. For the docker version of Emby it just works. If there is a way I can get Synology Emby to work through Tailscale, I would forget using docker at all. 1

Solution CyberSpock 4 Posted February 3 Author Solution Posted February 3 Oh, good grief. I saw on Reddit someone else had this problem with Synology-Tailscale-Emby and what they did was uninstall and reinstall the Android app. This worked. I can now turn off port forwarding on the router and Emby. And also no longer need upnp. Thanks for your attention. Docker users may still want network ability on the Save/Restore screen, but it is no longer a priority for me as I have uninstalled it. Roger 1
