hakunama 0 Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Summary Please add a configuration toggle in Live TV M3U tuner settings to let Emby Server distribute the original IPTV stream URL directly to clients, instead of proxying and caching the stream on the server, to resolve high playback latency. Problem Currently, Emby Live TV proxies and caches IPTV streams from M3U tuners on the server before relaying them to clients. This brings noticeable latency (5-15 seconds or more), which greatly impairs the viewing experience of real-time content such as sports events and live news. Existing workarounds do not resolve this, as the server still acts as a proxy for the stream. There is no way to have the server only distribute the raw source URL and let the client connect directly to the IPTV origin. Solution Add a dedicated toggle switch in the Live TV → Tuners → M3U Tuner Edit page, labeled as: Push raw source URL to client (bypass server proxy) When enabled, the server will: Only transmit the original IPTV stream URL to the client Stop proxying, caching or transcoding the live stream Let the client establish a direct network connection with the IPTV source Benefits Reduce latency drastically: Direct client-to-origin connection lowers delay to 1-2 seconds, matching the experience of native IPTV players. Lighten server load: Cut down bandwidth and CPU consumption caused by stream proxying and caching. Improve live TV usability: Meet the core demand of low latency for IPTV users. Keep backward compatibility: The optional toggle will not affect existing users who rely on timeshifting and transcoding functions. Additional Context Low-latency direct playback is a highly demanded feature among Emby Live TV IPTV users. Adding this option will significantly optimize the live TV scenario and enhance the overall competitiveness of Emby as a media platform.
