me@jackbenda.com 1 Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Hi guys. Trying my best not to be a total noob here but I'm trying to work out the best way to switch from the Terramaster app store version of Emby, which seems to push out your update months and months after you upload. Can I just install from the Terramaster web interface, or do I need to uninstall then reinstall Emby? My concern is losing metadata - watch data etc etc. Cheers!
me@jackbenda.com 1 Posted January 28 Author Posted January 28 (Side note - I've already downloaded the correct version and all that - It's just a question of not messing up my server )
Luke 42077 Posted January 28 Posted January 28 HI, what version is available to you from Terramaster?
me@jackbenda.com 1 Posted January 28 Author Posted January 28 4.8.8.0 is the version on the app store right now. Haven't had an update in a very very long time... I'm on an ARM processor running TOS 4. On a side note, I do have an issue with the process just spontaneously terminating itself. I thought it could be resource related (it's not a very powerful device, only 1gb of ram on a 1.4 ghz processor!) but I did wonder if the new version may solve this - an old TerraMaster forum post where someone was having similar issues solved it by installing the latest version direct from the Emby website rather than the app store...

Hi, that's strange. We submitted 4.9 to them. Maybe they only released it for TOS 5 devices and not TOS 4. We'll check with them on that. To answer your original question, I think you can just install from the website on top of your existing version, however i know they updated sideloading packages in TOS 5 to be much easier. It was much more difficult with TOS 4 if I recall correctly.
me@jackbenda.com 1 Posted January 28 Author Posted January 28 Glad I could draw your attention to this! I'm not sure what exactly you mean by side-loading... If I just go ahead and install, will I have two instances of emby on the NAS? And will the config files/metadata etc. just be duplicated into the new install?
me@jackbenda.com 1 Posted January 28 Author Posted January 28 Well I'm not sure of the best way to do it! The wisdom on the forums seems to be to just do it via the web app installer on terra master, but if you'd suggest I do via SSH or something else, I'm all ears!

Hi, you might just want to give it a little more time. They responded and let us know that they are currently reviewing the 4.9.3 release. So hopefully they will publish it soon.
me@jackbenda.com 1 Posted January 29 Author Posted January 29 Ah okay grand. Thank you Luke - I'll let you know when it gets pushed out. Thanks, Jack 1
