No longer seeing screensaver

This may be due to me updating my LG to a newer LG OS, as I believe the LG screensaver is kicking in faster now.

However, I think I am seeing this happen on my NVIDIA Shield as well -- basically, I haven't seen the Emby screensaver itself in quite a while.
Was there any changes there? Or perhaps a setting I may have turned off? Or, is there any way to manually kick off the screensaver? This is the one that cycles through the backdrops for your titles. I believe it used to come up when I paused a video for about 5 minutes, or if I left the home screen up.

Thanks.

Hi, the Emby screensaver has never been included in our LG app. They rejected the app over that a long time ago, although we could probably try to get it in again.

Thanks for the info. Most likely I used to see it in my Shield then, but I think my LG TV update is just throwing up the built-in screensaver much faster due to no motion on the screen.

Is there any way I can cause the screensaver to start on my end sooner?

Well what screensaver exactly are you seeing?

I'm seeing my LG TV one that basically turns off the display when there's inactivity. I think they shortened the time that it kicks in. I'd love to get the Emby screensaver / slideshow up again, but I think the time that takes to kick in is longer than my TV's timeout. Was hoping I could manually start that slideshow / screensaver within Emby.

Are you positive it's from the LG and not the Shield? Either way, are there settings to control it?

Silly I should have thought to look for this -- but you're right. There was a setting, it seems like that just got reset to 3 minutes after the LG OS upgrade.

I moved it to 10m. That should allow the Emby screensaver to kick in before the screen goes idle.

So an update on this, I'm still not seeing the screensaver even with my TV screensaver set higher. Is there a specific criteria for where/when it might start? I had a movie paused for 10+ minutes, I believe it used to appear when a title was paused, but this was at least a year ago.

In case it helps, the Emby apps waits 5 minutes.

I can confirm it is not working if that is the case. My TV is now set to a 10 minute idle timer before the screen saver kicks in.

I am not seeing the Emby screensaver / library slideshow start at all. I attempted this by pausing on a playing item and not pressing any buttons for over 5 minutes.

Last night it was tested on the LG app, but I am quite certain this is also occurring on my Shield app.

Can you give it another try?

Sure thing, should 4.9.3.0 be okay to try on?

Well it's more the app version that matters.

Just tried on LG v1.0.50, paused a video and let it six for 6 minutes, no screensaver / slideshow came up.

How did you configure it in the app?

The only relevant option I see in App Settings is 'Photo slideshow time per slide'.

Is there any other setting related to it? I checked all the menus and unless I missed it, didn't see any others.

So I might have found the issue -

I tried on my Shield last night, and no screensaver after 5 minuets.
I then checked the settings on the Shield and under App Settings --> General, there was an option for Screensaver, with some options as to which kind to use.
I enabled that, but did not yet wait the 5 minutes to see it work, but I'd like to believe that did the trick.

However, this setting is entirely missing from the LG App. So I am wondering if the screensaver fallback setting is just off, since this option is not presented.
