Emby server on TrueNAS Scale

Recommended Posts

I installed emby server on my NAS server, and when I entered the details required, I mistakenly entered port number 9096, but the Web UI still  loaded up ok.

I then installed emby on my Nvidia sheild , but found I could not change the port number during the setup. I then changed the port number in emby server to 8096. Then whenI loaded the Web UI, I see this: Sign in to fbff3889f667 What is that??

I have tried logging in using my emby user but it does recognise my username from when I used emby last year, an dis the same when I try manual login.

How can I get into emby , is there any other way, or even changing the port number on the setup of emby on my Sheild.

Thanks

Just an update, when I click on forgot password, I get a message saying:

The following file has been created on your server and contains instructions on how to proceed:

/config/passwordreset.txt

But there is no /config file or folder I can get to in TrueNAS

Hi, it does exist, but the /config path in the docker container is mapped to a physical path on the system. What is it mapped to?

What or where is the docker container. I've no ideas where it is mapped to. If you are using truenas then please tell me

You'll have settings in truenas scale that map /config to a path on your system.

Ok but I'll have to ask on the truenas forum about that

@avalon65I would recommend running Emby as a Docker container on TrueNAS

Ok fair enough,  but ideally I would rather be able to change the port number for emby on my Nvidia shield.

Thanks

I thought you were trying to reset a password?

Yes only because I can't change the port number  on my Shield after I entered the ip address of my NAS server.

When I use my login details from last year, emby just says Invalid username or password. Please try again.

Ok I have finally managed  to read the passwordrest.txt file. It has a pin code but has just expired. When I get another one where or what do I do with enter where exactly;

Enter the following pin code:

I entered this in my browser, and the emby page appeared, but nothing else just a blank page with the emby logo on.

Ok , after a slight error on my part, I did get a page to enter the pin, but it returned:

No users were found with the entered name. Please try again, or leave the name blank to reset the password for all users on this server..

Now what, as emby does not recognise my username. Can't I just start again , and how.

Thanks

Hi, it sounds like you've forgotten the name of your admin user? In any case, try going through the password reset process again, only this time, leave the username field blank. This will reset the password for all users on your server, and it will also tell you the usernames. Please see if that helps.

I have deleted emby app from my NAS server and I'm about to reinstall it, but in the settings page? it is showing the port number as 9096, and not 8086.

So when I used 9096 before, the emby Web UI opened up and all was well, but then as I said, on mt tv screen it defaulted to 8086 and I can't change it, but I'll try again!

So what port should be used.

Both the Emby for Android and Emby for Android TV apps have buttons to Switch Server / Add Server manually and enter a domain/IP address and port number

Look at the settings buttons on top right corner

Thanks and after having another look, I found how to change the port number and I logged in ok to emby server, and have my media now showing on the tv
