BruceDavid 4 Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Hi, I have a large collection of WMA lossless music files. Apparently Samsung does not support that codec. Is it possible for Emby to transcode those into a format that that Samsung can play? If so, how do I enable that? I have looked at the Emby server settings and the Emby/Samsung client settings but did not see anything applicable. I have thousands of files so transcoding them into FLAC (which plays fine) or some other codec is not far from ideal. Thanks. Best, Bruce 1
SamES 1056 Posted January 27 Posted January 27 So lossless wma is not supported, but lossy is. @Lukecan we determine this from the media info/scan?
SamES 1056 Posted January 27 Posted January 27 @BruceDavidcan you please post the media info from the server for a specific example?
BruceDavid 4 Posted January 27 Author Posted January 27 Happy to provide the media info from the server but I can't seem to figure out how. Would you please provide directions?
Neminem 1515 Posted January 27 Posted January 27 @BruceDavidI think all the info you need is here Also found here
FrostByte 5392 Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Navigate to one of your albums with containing wmapro, click (...) for one of the songs, then choose Go to Item. Then take a screenshot of the mediainfo section at the bottom Here's one for WMA to compare. 1
FrostByte 5392 Posted January 27 Posted January 27 2018 manual Also, as of 2025 WMA (even lossy) is no longer support by any Samsung TV Important The DTS Audio codec is not supported on 2024 TVs. For smooth playback, if a DTS Audio track is part of your manifest, make sure other audio tracks can be selected. The WMV, VC-1, and WMA codecs are no longer supported on the 24TV_BASIC4, 2025 and later device models.
BruceDavid 4 Posted January 27 Author Posted January 27 Thanks. I am aware that current Samsung TVs do not support WMA. What I am wondering is if Emby has the functionality to transcode on the fly to a format that the TV will support and, if so, how I enable that.
FrostByte 5392 Posted January 27 Posted January 27 That info was meant for SamES since he has to go into the code and change things anyway. He can force transcoding based on codec and Tizen level. I just wanted to make sure he was aware when making his changes. The only way I can think of forcing a transcode is to lower bitrate until a fix can be made 1
BruceDavid 4 Posted January 27 Author Posted January 27 Got it, thanks. Well, I guess I just need to wait for a code update.
FrostByte 5392 Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Ya, I was just checking the bitrate settings for the app under Playback and you can only change the remote streaming bitrate for Audio. So it isn't an option to lower bitrate streaming forcing a transcode for audio when local.
