Backdrop has changed for home screen and I want to turn it off

At some point I turned on something like "Show backdrops when browsing" and that includes the home screen. It was fine at first but sometime recently the way the images are displayed has changed and the backdrop covers the entire screen and virtually washes out the images that belong there. The images can still be seen and work just fine but the screen is hard for my old eyes to see clearly.

I am not complaining as i remember turning that on but the changes that have made the backdrops brighter makes me want them off. 
I now cannot find where that toggle is and i "think" I have been through all the settings screen and I was hoping that someone could steer me in the correct direction so I can toggle that setting off. I know it is probably somewhere that is both easy and simple and intuitive to find but it appears my old brain is incapable of perceiving the "easy and simple and intuitive" that is being used.

I am posting here even though I am running the beta as I think that this is also in the release but, if it is only a beta problem, then a mod can move it to the beta forum or it can just be answered here.

Hi, this is where to find it in the current stable version (perhaps beta is the same?).

Manage Emby Server > Emby Web Settings > General > Enable backdrops

I see those but there are no selection boxes for the last three options. Maybe this is a beta bug. I created a new user and tried to copy all settings from the old user but ended up with no ability to import settings and no backdrops (which is good) but that is not a solution. 
BTW: My primary user, the one I am testing with, has full admin privileges. Since this could well be a beta bug @Lukeor @ebrcould you take a look? Also my backgrounds for my main user have disappeared, that is good but the selection boxes for those last three entries are still not showing. This does seem to be a beta bug and also the legacy backup/restore seems to not work either.

This probably should really be moved to the beta forum. I am going to try a few things and I will report back if I can keep working.

Well, false alarm. I had, just recently, turned on "High Contrast" in Windows because some of the apps I use do not have a dark theme but they do respect the changes of "High contrast." I jiggled with the themes quite a bit and found/created a great one for me but it does have a side effect in that it blanks or hides some color combos and the one that Emby uses for toggles is one that disappears. 

I need to use "High contrast" because my old eyes do not handle screens like they used to and the dark/blue versions of "High Contrast" makes reading the screens a lot easier. Since "High Contrast" is an easy toggle in Windows I just have to remember to turn it off when I want to mess with Emby's settings.

I have a further follow-up to this. 

I have successfully turned of the backdrops when browsing movies but I cannot find where to turn it off for TV shows.
A few times it seemed to be off but it reappeared after a day or so. I want all backdrops turned off when browsing. They are "pretty" but they make reading the screen harder for me. This is mainly a problem in the web app but it is also pretty awful when browsing on a client like either Android or Roku.

Well I can and I will but it is simply a backdrop for the show I am browsing and I want to turn it off.

You could try this CSS for the web app to hide all background images.

It works with the latest beta for me. But, as you know, it won't help for Android and Roku.

/* Change the brightness level of the background images */
div.backgroundContainer.withBackdrop {
    background: rgba(0,0,0,1) !important;
}

The key parameter is the alpha channel: 1 in rgba (0,0,0,1)

Setting this to 0 will give full transparency full background image brightness, 0.5 half brightness and 1 fully opaque with no background image visible.

OK right there has never been a setting for that. I can see how the current setting could be easily mistaken for that. We’ll look at improving it. Thanks.
