roku with western digital ex2 ultra - on movie playback get spinning circle

Movies play and then the spinning % circle, starffmpeg-transcode-911b90f5-25fe-4287-9b90-a589802c49d4_1.txtts at 33% or so, then goes back to 100%, movie plays for a bit, then goes back to spinning circle.  Roku app is version 4.1, build 54, tried to up date that, said it was up to date.  Server version is 4.8.11.0, says that's up to date.  Let me know if anything else is needed.  Thanks for the help.

Hi, are you sure that model can handle this transcoding? You probably want to format your files appropriately to maximize direct playing as much as you can.

I've been playing these same files with Emby on the same server for years.  Never had an issue and then the last few months this started to happen.  Same thing use to happen all the time with Plex when they started to support streaming more than playing movies from your server.

Ya, but updates to the OS and apps evolve and generally slow down things because they do more.

Bui, maybe there are ways to improve this, so try this:

1. Remove plugins that you really don't need from Emby
2. Update the NAS firmware/software 
3. Reboot the NAS
4. Wait ~5 min, then try to play a video you have had problems with
5. After a problem occurs, post here all the logs Emby creates during this time
