why changes under the table?

Recommended Posts

Today, I went into Live TV->Schedule and notice Emby does not behave like the the day before
before: click on a scheduled show, displays show details then ESCape key goes back to the Live TV Schedule so I can go to the next scheduled show, etc.
now today, without installing any updates, after clicking on a scheduled show, the ESC key highlight the Cancel Series button and stays there. Another hit on ESC goes back to the main screen!?!? or instead of pressing ESC, you click on the back button <, it does nothing the first time. a 2nd time, it goes back to the main screen!?!?

so, why those changes "under the table" ? (that I noticed, only you know how many more other there are)

would you please roll back that latest change because now, that change alone sucks: I have to start from the main page to see ONE scheduled show for each shows that I have in Live TV

HI, I don't quite understand this. Can you please take a video or capture screenshot examples? Thanks !

when you go to Live TV, then Schedule, the list of scheduled TV is shown, if any and I do
if you click on one of them, you see the details of that TV show
when you press the ESCape key or Back arrow <, before last update, the previous screen was shown (list of scheduled TV shows)
now, it does not. it goes to the Main screen

so, all I'm asking is to revert the last changes you made to how it worked before: to show the previous screen (list of scheduled TV shows)

What do you mean by main screen?

the Home screen

Using Emby Theater on Windows 11 I get exactly the same thing, which started very recently. However, on my Windows 10 system it's still working fine with the same version of Emby Theater.

and it's working fine on Windows 11 Home also. the issue is on Windows 11 Pro/Workstation

so, the issue is not on the server side. but with Theater

same issue in the Schedule tab on W11 Pro
the weirdest, on my W11 Home, it's working fine in both Schedule and Series tabs

I hadn't realised that there was Emby Theater and also Emby for Windows. I uninstalled Emby Theater and tried Emby for Windows instead, which works fine.

Theater is the client

So Luke, how can the same Theater version behave differently on Windows 11 Home and Pro ?
here's my exact Win11 infos:

Hi, please allow the user to explain their issue in their own words.  Users will frequently say "me too" but then when we actually dive into it we learn that it's really about something different.

Hi,

I see what is shown in the video. I'm using the mouse to navigate, but the symptoms are the same if I do the same operations using my remote.

1. From the home screen I click on the Live TV icon which takes me to the Guide screen as expected.

2. From there I click on the Series icon which takes me to the Series screen.

3. I click on a particular series, which takes me to the correct screen for that series.

4. I then click on the < symbol at the top left. That should take me back to the Guide screen, but nothing happens.

5. I click again on the < symbol at the top left and it returns to the home screen, not the guide screen.

This does differ slightly from what is reported in the original post, which doesn't mention that the first "back" is ignored.

Regards,

Phil

In almost all cases "back" doesn't work properly as the first one is ignored and the second takes me to the home screen, however,
sometimes "back" does work correctly, and that is when navigating folders in a library and when navigating Shows.

I said in the OP: "the ESC key highlight the Cancel Series button and stays there."  ~similar of saying ESC does nothing or ignored instead of going back to the previous screen like before

Ah, I don't use the ESC key so didn't cotton on to that bit.

I have a Windows 11 Pro VM and I can report that it suffers from the same problem. Sp for me both WIn11 and Win11 Pro have the same behaviour.

The icon for the series Black Ops. Do you still not understand what the problem is?

From my point of view it doesn't really matter about Emby Theater now that I have realised there's Emby for Windows. Emby for Windows works fine and so I'm using that. I don't care about Emby Theater. FWIW I tested out an old Windows 10 system I have and the Emby Theater that was on that worked OK, so I decided to uninstall it and download the latest version I could find. The one I downloaded from  https://github.com/MediaBrowser/emby-theater-windows exhibits the problem on WIndows 10, 11, 11Pro and 8Pro. But to me it doesn't matter, I was only pointing out that I also had the same problem that was originally reported here. No need to look at this on my account.

Right but in the previous step you mentioned the guide, but the guide does not have series icons, right? Can you capture a video to demonstrate what you mean? Thanks !

You've got me completely confused now, the video I already posted on Monday shows the problem. I don't understand what more I can show you.
