Unwanted fanart.jpg files being saved to Movie folders

Sorry, again, by complete contents do you mean # of files and folders? The exact full contents of all the folders or??? There are 1676 Movies and their associated files. Here are the folder stats (4tb Drive):

The screenshot is the contents of the affected folder. There are over 1500 similar folders in the Movies folder. All structured the same. I am so confused...

Are you using one of the ARRRs (Sonarr, Radarr) by any chance ?

Had the same issue with coverart and found out the culprit wasn't the Emby metadata fetcher.

It's definitely coming from Emby, but not clear why based on your settings...

From this mornings backup:

I just noticed somthing, these two videos I had looked at yesterday, and now that I think about it, it seems whenever I 'touch' a video in Emby it seems to spawn a fanart.jpg.. 

Gonna test that theory.

I doubt this will be of help, but just a thought. There was an update a while back (don't remember which one or exactly when, sorry), but it seems that that is when this started. There was a rash of these new fanart files, 5-20 at a time daily, then they tapered off. 

Since my last batch on Monday I've had nada. It's almost like a flag was set to 'ok, done that one' and hasn't repeated itself. I didn't keep track of which movies were affected, but I am sure that it only did it to a movie once.

Ok, it does happen when I 'touch' a video. Both of these videos I started to watch and then immediately stopped.. the next day I got this:

Not sure how to reproduce this as I have existing backdrops and never get Emby downloading fanart images.  Even after touching files.

All backdrop provided my MCM but I still have all options enabled in Emby.

Scratch that.. just realized in my frustration a while back I removed Fanart  from my plugins.. So my options are the same.. So must be Gremlins..

Sorry, been away, just getting back to this. By complete contents do you mean the single movie folder or the Movie folder that contains all my movies? If its just the movie folder that's what I posted previously:

And to update, it's still doing it, but I am CONVINCED it has something to do with looking at the video in Emby. This is a snapshot of my cleanup, all three of these movies I just viewed in Emby, I didn't refresh metadata, I didn't view the movie, merely looked at them in the Emby program...gotta be gremlins.

That tells me that the image urls were saved into your server database prior to changing the library option to prevent it from downloading. To confirm, try adding a brand new movie.
