One particular tv show never shows up in "Continue Watching"

Picture it: two ppl in this house. A roku ultra in my room, one in their room. They have their own profile. I have mine. They came in my room and asked me "why this particular show (Mrs. Brown's Boys) never shows up in "continue watching" but all of my other shows I've partially watched do?" It's just that ONE show. They have to go to the TV show folder, scroll down to the show, open the show, and there it is "resume" I honestly have NO clue. I thought I would ask

Does it show up when using the web app and logged in as that user? The Roku should show things exactly how the web app shows them.

Did they use the "Remove from Continue Watching" on the web app? The Roku doesn't have remove from continue watching in the app yet. But if used on the web app when logged in as that user it would respect that when logged in as that user on the Roku app.

I highly doubt it. They only know how to access emby from their ipad or roku... they've never accessed it on anything else.

Well let’s phrase it this way. What exactly do they expect to be showing for Mrs brown boys and why?

I mean, if you stop mid -episode and the next day you go back and it's not under continue watching, that's not normal behavior, is it?

Hi there, please attach the Emby server log from when the problem occurred:

Thanks!

Is that show in a separate library?  Did they select the option to NOT show that library in Continue Watching (in home screen settings)?

That is why we are asking all these questions. There must be a reason why it isn't showing. We are just trying to figure out what that reason might be. The simplest explanation is they've used the remove from continue watching. Does it show the same way on the iPad as it does on the Roku? The iPad does have the "Remove from Continue Watching" option and if they select that on their iPad it would also affect their Roku.

May I ask where (on Roku) is the setting to "remove this show from continue watching" I have literally never seen that setting before unless I just glanced over it or something

Roku doesn't have it, but honours the setting when made elsewhere.

Go to the web app for that user and bring up home screen settings.  Look for these toggles:

Right. That's on. Their continue watching shows all show up under continue watching. We didn't understand why that ONE particular show (located in the TV Show folder as all other tv shows) doesn't show up under "continue watching" but everything else does. Again, in order to continue watch that particular show, they have to go to tv show folder, to that show, then resume from there

If you edit metadata for an episode of that show, are the season and episode numbers filled in properly?

Yea... I use filebot to name everything. I'm OCD about all that. Folder structure, naming, backups, etc... I did try something. See, he watched through the entire series, so it was all played... but I didn't think that mattered. If everything is "played" but you go back and start watching again (stop mid-episode), then go back to continue watching, that episode you stopped mid way is not in continue watching... anyway, we marked the entire series as "not played" so they haven't watched it yet but we'll see what happens with it by doing that... I actually recorded this particular series using OBS myself...edited/encoded using FFMPEG and named files with filebot... Basically, same as all of my tv shows, TV Shows/Name of TV Show/Season1/ Season 2/ etc then Name of Show - S01E04 - Blahblahblah.. Anyway, it's not a huge deal I just thought it was very odd that ONE show to behave that way in Emby when nothing is really different about it in terms of naming, etc. I personally never watch that show but I watched an episode on MY ROKU and stopped mid-way and it WAS in continue watching. (LOL), so I have no clue.

Ah, okay, that is the answer.

Next Up/Continue Watching shows you the next unplayed episode after the last one you watched.

even if you start over and stop mid-episode of an episode you've already watched? Wouldn't it assume you want to continue watching that?

No, that should show up in continue watching.
