justinrh 259 Posted January 23 Posted January 23 I poke the button and nothing happens. Restart the app and all that, still no update. embyserver.txtembyserver-63904703925.txt
pwhodges 2012 Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Sometimes the host operating system holds on to a file, which can prevent the update being completed. Try restarting the device on which Emby is running. Paul 1
justinrh 259 Posted January 23 Author Posted January 23 I rebooted a couple of times and eventually it did update. Seems Emby needs to add some error trapping and messaging around update ... 1
sa2000 674 Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Yes could have been a file/folder lock. There is already a registered issue for improved UI / Messaging for this. Is there a "Updater-xxxxxxxxxxxxx.log" file in the logs folder? C:\Users\jojo\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\logs There would normally also be a very small embyserver log file for attempt to launch the updater I can see in the log you provided that the 4.9.3.0 package was downloaded at 18:37:47 2026-01-22 18:37:47.087 Info App: Update Revision 4.9.3.0 available. justinrh 259 Posted January 27 Author Posted January 27 No updater logs, @sa2000but I really do appreciate the info and your investigation. You are so awesome! 1

Otherwise more diagnostics would be needed - eg adding debug logging, seeing what is in the "updates" folder within the programdata area and if the package got unzipped into a "%Temp%\emby-server-updater" folder As it takes many hours for all the release packages to be created, sometimes an update is shown as available before the specific package for the OS / Platform is ready to be downloaded and installed. That could have been what happened

That could have been what happened Don't think that is what happened this time since that new version had been installed (automatically) on my other Windows server for days/weeks. Found this: "C:\Users\jojo\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\updates\embyserver-win-x64-{version}.7z.ver" but I guess it is a moot point now. Edited January 29 by justinrh

Yes. What is the timestamp of the file ? (last modified date/time) The logs you provided show 2 attempts to download and there is no log entry to say that the task completed 2026-01-22 18:37:46.977 Info TaskManager: Executing Check for application updates 2026-01-22 18:37:47.087 Info App: Update Revision 4.9.3.0 available. sa2000 674 Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Thanks - so for some reason the attempts to download at 4.9.3.0 at 18:37 and 18:38 did not work and it worked later on at 20:04 Not possible to say why. Debug Logging may have given extra info. The request might have just hung for some reason 1
