Emby Android App on Android TV - Resume button not in focus

I am posting here because I am referring to the latest version of the Android app released today. I waited for a few updates hoping the issue would be resolved, but this annoying bug is still present.

Let me explain: as you can see in 'Figure 2', this issue does not occur with TV Series. For example, if I stop playback after 10 minutes, the app immediately asks if I want to resume from where I left off. As shown in 'Figure 2', this option appears correctly right away.

Now let's look at 'Figure 1', attached below. As you can see, when watching a Movie, when I stop playback, that annoying bug appears: the app highlights 'From Beginning' instead of positioning itself on 'Resume' as it should. This happens frequently, about 8 times out of 10 it defaults to 'From Beginning' rather than 'Resume'.

I know you are working hard on this project, but could you please fix this very annoying issue? Thank you.

My Setup:

  • Server: I run your server on a QNAP NAS, updated to the latest available version (I am using the BETA versions).

  • Client: I use an Nvidia Shield TV Pro, which, as you know, runs Android TV (not Google TV).

I am trying to use this App because I see you are updating it often, unlike the dedicated Android TV app.

I hope the attached screenshots clearly demonstrate the bug I am experiencing.

Thanks in advance to the support team for your help. Have a good evening, everyone!

Definitely an issue with the standard Android app, and has been reported previously.

When backing out of playback to a detail screen and there is a resume point, the 'Resume' button should have autofocus but it doesn't always work.

Hopefully @Lukecan find a permanent fix for this annoyance.

Hi Luke, yes, I can still reproduce the issue. I've already tested it with version 3.5.29 from GitHub, and the bug is still consistently there. After watching for 15 minutes, I stopped the playback, but it still shows the 'Play' button instead of 'Resume'. Thanks for the support!

Hi Luke, yes, I can still reproduce the issue. I've already tested it with version 3.5.29 from GitHub, and the bug is still consistently there. I forgot to mention an important detail: this issue is also present in your latest beta release. The anomaly only occurs during the very first stop after starting the video; in that case, it shows 'Play' instead of 'Resume'. However, if I continue and stop the video a second or third time, it correctly shows the 'Resume' button. It only fails on the first stop. Thanks for the support!"

I can reproduce this every time.  It doesn't happen if I start a movie from a chapter not at the beginning, but if I start a movie from the beginning and either wait the required number of minutes or skip a few chapters after starting from the beginning it defaults to play from beginning.

Steps:

  • Start movie from beginning
  • wait , or bring up the chapters and skip to a chapter later in the movie
  • now back out to the details page
  • focus is on Play from beginning

v 3.5.29

Edit: doesn't matter if you pause first, or just click Back during play, it always goes back with focus on play from beginning.
