Massive amount of artefacts in dark scenes

Hi everyone

After I learned that Firefox needs to be strangled with barbed wire, I switched to Brave for my viewing pleasures.

Now I noticed while watching The Blacklist that dark scenes or shadows are heavily artifacted, as if one was watching 144p.

I watched the file, over the network, in VLC and there seemed to be no artifacting. I tried to replace the file with one from the web, no difference. I then tried it in Firefox but that damn thing won't even let me skip ahead to another point in the video anymore, it's that bad.

I had a look at the logs. There is no transcode logfile. Is this just the nature of the beast? The moment you watch in a webbrowser, quality goes down the crapper?

I just updated to 4.9.3 after uploading the log file, just to be sure it wasn't that... I wanna say it looks a bit better now but I think that's my bias and not actually true.

OpenH264 Plugin IS enabled on my firefox.

But again, firefox is dead to me. Brave plays the files, the quality is just garbage and I want to know if that is something I have to live with in all browsers.

By the way, I just checked. I see no artifacts on Emby for Android. Granted, it's a small screen and probably harder to see, but it's SO obvious on the computer screen, I'm pretty sure it would be visible on mobile as well. It isn't.

Okay, it's a d'uh moment.

After an Update of both firefox and Brave, the issue is gone in Brave. Still can't tell with Firefox as that is still stuttery and I can't skip inside the video.

But yeah. Brave was buggy and now it isn't it seems.
