LG Magic Remote Channel Up/Down

Hello,

I recently purchased Emby Premiere and noticed a change in the behavior of the LG Magic Remote channel up/down buttons.

Previously, after selecting “Play from here” in a folder view, the channel up/down buttons would move to the next or previous video in the folder. Now, those same buttons appear to navigate chapters within the currently playing video instead.

I am trying to understand whether:

  • This behavior changed after activating the Premiere subscription, or

  • It was introduced by a recent update, or

  • This behavior may never have existed on LG TVs and only worked this way on Android clients.

Additionally, would it be possible to introduce a settings option that allows users to choose what the channel up/down buttons control (e.g., chapter navigation vs. next/previous item)?

Thank you for your time and clarification.

Sorry for the late reply.

The OSD previous/next buttons are very inconsistent for me. Sometimes they appear, sometimes they don’t.
I have a lot of music videos, and I used to quickly go through them using the Channel Up/Down buttons on the remote. Now those buttons cycle through (auto-generated) chapters instead, which is not useful in my case.

Is it possible to customize the behavior of remote buttons so the user can choose what they do? Alternatively, is there a way to remap these functions manually, or use other available buttons on the remote for this purpose?

Thanks.

The visibility of some of the OSD buttons depends on detection of a mouse or the LG magic pointer.

Check the app settings, there is a setting possibly under Display or Playback where you can set the transport button visibility. Try setting it to ‘always show’

And Prev/Next buttons will only ever appear if there are Prev or Next items, so Prev won’t show for the first item in a queue, and neither will show if playing a single item.
