danielknight 0 Posted January 18 Posted January 18 I'm noticing an issue when watching 4K HDR TV episodes. They appear washed out with a gray tint. I do not notice the issue with HDR movies. Other apps playback the TV episodes correctly: Plex, Infuse. I do not notice the issue on my Macbook or iPhone. So appears to be isolated to the ATV. Setup: Apple TV 4K Emby ATV app. HEVC Direct Mode Is there a fix for this issue?

danielknight 0 Posted January 19 Author Posted January 19 (edited) Hi Back. So not much else to expand on from my original post. I was trying to space an episode of The Expanse in 4k HDR. It seem like the blacks where being crushed. But I played the same episode in Plex (from the PMS), and Infuse using Emby connect. The episode played correctly. When I went back to Emby ATV app and replayed the episode, very washed out and I could see the blocking because the content was being played washed out. I have match range and frame rate turned on. I can see the TV blacking out while it switches. I turned if those settings off and it still appeared washed out when the ATV was in 4K HDR. I've played several movies that are 4K HDR and no issue with the color range. When i look at my server dashboard in the Emby web app, I can see the files playing direct with no transcoding. So tone mapping suggested by TMCsw is not a factor from what I know; if I'm wrong please correct me. However, I do have tone mapping enabled. Also all my TVs are 4K HDR. I've tried both MVP and Native players in the settings and same behavior. I'm attaching my server logs from today. Let me know if you need any additional information. embyserver.txt Edited January 19 by danielknight
