Backup & Restore Plugin is Missing Network Authentication Fields

I am trying to migrate my Emby server (4.9.3.0, plugin v1.8.2.0) from a QNAP to a Proxmox LXC container and discovered that the Backup & Restore plugin will not populate the Username and Password fields needed to add a network share, either by browsing the "Network" option or by entering \\ in the path field. This is working correctly when adding a Library folder. I know I can get around this by mapping the share in Proxmox and adding the path to the container, but it shouldn't be necessary and makes it much more cumbersome just to restore or backup to another network location. Is this a known bug?

Hi, yes this is true. We have not yet added support for this in the backup plugin. For now, can you mount this as a local path in the OS?

Yes, I can add the share as a local path for now. Do you know if this is on the roadmap to be added?

Hi, yes it’s something we can look at adding. Thanks.

Hi, after testing more over the weekend I discovered that I cannot save any network paths in the Backup plugin, including shares with Guest access enabled (no authentication needed). I've tried the following paths on the new machine (LXC container) and the currently running QNAP app:

Selecting a valid path in the built-in Network browser

Manually entering \\server\Backups\Emby

Manually entering SMB://server/Backups/Emby

All result in the error "Relative backup path is not supported. Please configure a full path." when clicking Save. The Emby documentation for Backing up says to use a UNC path for external shared network drive. Are network paths completely broken in the plugin?

Try IP Address instead... Example below:

\\192.168.92.240\ShareName\EmbyServerBackup

I have tried both IP and host name, both don't work.

If you can ping the IP Address then it's some setup issue on your remote share.  I am unfamiliar with QNAP software and usernames/passwords or what type of share they expose (NFS, SMBv1, v2, v3 etc).

I can browse to the share (and shares from other devices) in the plugin no problem, it sees and navigates it fine, no authentication is required, but the plugin will not allow -any- network address to be saved. This behavior occurs on both the QNAP Emby server app and the LXC container server app.

Hi there, please attach the Emby server log from when the problem occurred:

Thanks!

OK that error message will be resolved for the next release of the server, however, adding the authentication fields to the backup UI is still outstanding.

If you're able to mount the network path to a local path in the OS, that would be a good approach in the meantime.
