jaytdot 5 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 This is more of an FYI for people who may be having the same issue I was - I recently upgraded Emby to the latest version (4.9.2.X also had the same issue) and had an issue where it would eventually consume all the CPU and Emby Server would become unresponsive. It seems that one of my users had the old Legacy "Emby for FireStick TV" it appears there is some issue where it would transcode video in a way that consumed a bunch of resources, but more importantly if the user stopped streaming it wouldn't stop the transcoding process and created some kind of resource sink. I even asked the user to make sure that "Direct Streaming" was turned on the Settings on the Client. It didn't make any difference. What DID was updating them to the regular "Emby" client on the AppStore and CPU usage on the server went from 100% to 4%. So if someone is having an issue with high "transcoding" and server becoming slow or unresponsive - check what clients are being run by your user and if anyone is using the legacy FireStick app - upgrade them and see if it fixes the issue. I originally thought it was an EPG parsing issue. I also did upgrade my intel drivers with the new Emby as there were updates on the ffmpeg and intel side. I did this on linux using "sudo apt install intel-media-va-driver-non-free" which works for docker and direct hosted. Anyways hope that helps someone - as I struggled with this last few days. Thanks, Jay
Luke 42077 Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
