This new 4.9.3.0 update that changed my old layout to a retarded "seasons drop down menus" and "side scrolling view" really Sux-@$$.

How does one revert back to the old view?

Hi, have you explored your Emby user display settings?

Yes, spent the last 30 or so mins trying to figure out how to revert back.

Even did the remove Libraries and chose the specific content settings multiple times like "Mixed Content" for series and "TV Shows" for Series and they are still ALL ending up with the Series/Seasons drop down and the Side Scrolling, which really sux when using on a Fire TV Stick Remote now.

There was nothing wrong with my media libraries layout for the past 8 or so years prior to the 4.9.3.0 update.

I've always used "Mixed Content" for all my libraries since there are still recurring problems with the proper "content type" rendering.

Do you have a site posted with  older versions of emby installers we can reinstall with?

Ok, so I was able to revert back to "Folder Views" on my emby server admin account via the users display preference.

But there seems to be no way to force or push legacy folder view to user accounts on the remote end.

That mean's emby admins will have to go through every single user account and change the users display settings. (not good if you have a couple hundred users)

Also having issues with end users not knowing how to "default Folder View" their layout, especially remote users using TV's with Fire Stick remotes (getting complaints of users not being able to navigate with the new layout on a TV remote)

In short, the new layout sux, the old layout should be pushed by default.

Hi.  Exactly what option did you change?  It shouldn't have had anything to do with folder view.  This is what you should have changed:

We've been discussing this, including how to undo this change in:

This really is a bad change.  I want to see the season groups with # of unwatched shows on the cards like on the Android TV app.

Have you selected the option that ebr highlighted, which does just that?

Yes, I have.

Just one problem, the user configs seem to be stored on the local device side.

So changing the views on the Server Side does nothing to the end user side.

Ex.

Changing a users view back to folders views on the server,  only changes the users view on the server.

Moved to the Living room TV,  that same users view is defaulted to the new drop down side scroll view. Changed that to the old folders view. Ok

Moved to one of the kids rooms TV, same users view is set to the drop down view side scroll view.

In other words, the users configurations are stored on the device, not pushed down to the  end users device every time the user connects to the emby server.

I remember years ago about requesting this "server side pushed user layout" ,  and the response was "maybe in a future release" or something like that.

It would be a nice "feature" to add for  emby Premiere users?  Maybe give incentive to pay for a premiere version.

Like enforcing a users layout view from the server side?

I have a specific layout I want my users to view emby and lock that view.

Not sure I follow as if I change that setting it applies to all my clients I log into.  Web Client, iOS, Android, Windows app

Not sure on TV apps as I don't uses them.

i do not like the new layout.

I want the old layout back...

this one sucks. Old one was much better

EDIT: How about an option to choose the layout, if the new one never gets selected, then remove it. :)

You have an option on the server that controls all clients per user as @ebrshowed above.  And in the linked topic above as this layout was added almost 2 or 3 years ago depend on if you saw it in beta in 2023.

are you tellin me that because of this update, now I have to go through every single user account and change this setting?

Ah I was also wondering why the layouts went so annoying with the gigantic horizontal scrollbar for large seasons, so this is the reason.

Can confirm that the fix is: Emby Server -> Users -> (select user) -> Edit this user's profile, etc -> Display -> Set Preferred TV Show display to Always show season folders.

@scott46953I'm also slightly annoyed, but I'll just set my users back the way they were I suppose.

If it was something new, then just tell us so we have the option to change it, why did it get changed automatically? The original should always be default. Then if more people use the new way at some point then change it with an update then. Is this a setting that I got to change every time the server updates? It's not just one ticker, it's a lot of tickers to change

I've read comments in the forum that setting the user layouts via "Emby Server -> Users -> (select user) -> Edit this user's profile, etc -> Display -> Set Preferred TV Show display to Always show season folders" set's the layout back to folder views.

I've noticed it does indeed change the current users layout back to folder views, but that only applies to to the current logged in user on "that device".

It does not take affect on each users "different" device or future "New Device" logins.

For example,  I've logged into the same account from four separate devices,  from three separate locations.

When logging on to that users account on any new device for the first time,  the user layout is defaulted to the new Drop-Down, Side scroller view.

The four screens attached are from the same user account .

Home Office PC (At Home): Logged in and changed the layout back to Old Folder view,  which sticks and shows with any future logins on this device only.

Work Office PC (At Work):  Logged for the first time, same user, and it's defaulted to Drop-Down, Side-Scroller view. I have to manually change the layout again.

Laptop PC (Parked at some shady looking warehouse in the slum side of town):  Logged in for the first time with same user on the laptop, and it's defaulted to Drop-Down, Side-Scroller view. I have to manually change the layout again.

Living Room Fire TV (Living Room):  Logged in again after previously setting the user layout back to old folder view the other day, layout was saved to folder view. Yay!

So in short,

You will have to manually change the layout view to the old folder view,  for each user account,  on every device,  every time you login for the first time.

@GHynsonthat's strange, I've changed the Display settings via Chrome on my desktop and these changes are now also available on Google Chrome app.emby.media, the Emby Android app (same phone) and my Samsung TV.

I didn't have to change these settings for each device, they were all inherited in my case. Are you sure you're using the same account on the different devices?

Yes,  I'm using the same account on each device.
It's weird,  as the comments in the forum are stating it works for others,  but it's definitely NOT working for my setup.

Hi, did you try restarting the apps?

Hey Luke,

Yes, I have tried multiple approaches.

I've went through every users profile on the server hosting emby,  and configured each account to the old folder view.

I've removed and rebuilt the TV series Library.

I've rebooted devices.

I've removed and reinstalled the emby app on a couple Fire TV Sticks.

The only thing I haven't done is completely remove and reinstall the emby server on the host server.

My particular emby server may be in some weird state as I've been incrementally updating it since like emby version 2.x

Hi @GHynson. I don't have any input on the issue you are are posting about in this thread. But I do have a question based on the images you provided for Babylon 5. Recently I noticed that the season names for that series have been changed from "Season 1", "Season 2", etc. to the secondary titles "Signs and Portents", "The Coming of Shadows", etc. based on metadata scraped from TVDB (and TMDB). In your images, the season names are all still identified as "Season x" which I would prefer. I'm just curious if you had to manually edit the season metadata to get that to happen?

@DarWun

Yes, I completely edit all the metadata myself and lock the settings to prevent emby from auto filling or changing the info.

It's very time consuming, but I don't like the way emby renames the files and adds episode numbers in front of them.

I also strip out all the other info that emby adds when you have it do the metadata scrapper search.

I have emby display exactly how the actual file name is stored on the file server.

It would be a nice "Premiere" option to allow permanently disabling features you don't want.  😉 😉 @Luke

@GHynsonthat generally means your show / season / episode isn't identified at all. Or do mean that you WANT your episodes to be formatted as if they're unidentified?

Identified items should look something like this:

image.thumb.png.727e1f1def28bf165ef89ad421cd3f67.png

These are all automatically identified items. It looks to me like something else is up with your data.

As an example, unidentified items look like this:

Yes there can be a downside of using absolute number ie 0101, 0102 ect as sometimes they are not identified.
