TysonNW 0 Posted January 9 Posted January 9 I have a fresh install of Emby 4.7.14 on a DSM 7.1.1. When I try and set up the folders it should be looking in it cannot access anything beyond volume1. So not my video folder or any of its sub folders. I think it is a problem of permissions.I cannot see the emby user through the web interface's users/groups tool. So SSH it is. I have two groups with permissions to access the video folder on my synology nas video and users. I can see it when I ssh into the server in my /etc/passwd file. so the user exists and when I id it, it I get uid=240699(emby) gid=240699(emby) groups=240699(emby),999(synopkgs),937(videodriver) I am thinking that at this point, I need to make emby a part of one of those two groups. But I am unsure how. Or add the permissions of the groups it is a member of to the video's folder. I am unsure of which I need to do.

Luke 42077 Posted January 9 Posted January 9 Hi, have you taken a look at this? Also, why 4.7.14 and not a newer version?
TysonNW 0 Posted January 10 Author Posted January 10 Welp, that was useless. There are no instructions on setting up permissions in Synology in the Tutorials and Guides. Eventually I found the answer in https://global.download.synology.com/download/Document/Software/DeveloperGuide/Firmware/DSM/All/enu/Synology_DiskStation_Administration_CLI_Guide.pdf I had to use sudo synoshare --setuser video RW + emby To add the RW permissions for the video share to the emby account.
