JNightOwl 0 Posted January 9 Posted January 9 Hello, I have been using Emby and Trakt for months and everything seemed to be working great, but I noticed an issue recently that is happening somewhat often and driving me mad. For example, the other evening I watched a movie and it showed up in my just watched in Trakt, but I noticed it did not show as part of my collection, which was strange as I watched it from my local collection. I checked Emby and it knew everything about the movie as it was properly filled out in my Emby library (and was able to send what it was to Trakt saying I watched it), but not in my Trakt collection. I tried re-naming, refreshing metadata, manually setting the id, resetting my Trakt token, etc and nothing changed its status in my Trakt collection. After a some more investigation about that file I found I had added a handful of movies to my local collection on the same day (~8) and I found that three of them (all next to each other in timestamp) did not show in my Trakt collection, yet the ones from before and after that block worked just fine. Now leading me to believe a file or network issue occurred during that time. Unfortunately since the files were added many months ago I don't have those logs, but I am currently searching for a time this happened again, as I see TV series that were added last week where Emby knows I have everything, but the first 9 episodes are missing from my Trakt collection... It is very strange as I'd say it does great 95%+ of the time, but this 5% is making it very difficult to track my media properly. I see in my recent logs when an update happens it sends a count and gets a response making me think Emby shouldn't be marking them as known to Trakt if Trakt does not accept them, but obviously something is keeping them from being sent again. Is there a way to force Emby to push a collection to Trakt without me wiping my collections so I could fill in the gaps? Any idea why this might be happening? The only trend I can find so far is the three times I can see that it happened I was dumping a bit of media at once, so it's possible a request was being compiled / sent when another one was generated from new files, but I have to believe it would be able to handle this. I'm still digging though logs and watching for it to happen live, but any suggestions or assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Luke 42077 Posted January 9 Posted January 9 HI there, can you please provide a specific example? How to Report a Problem Thanks !
JNightOwl 0 Posted January 10 Author Posted January 10 I still don't have any logs from when the things that were added went missing, but I am trying. Will post those as soon as I find some or am able to reproduce (haven't had anything to add lately). I could try removing and re-adding things if that will help although my process would just be moving the files from the library, refreshing, then moving them back? That also won't solve the issue of pushing any that are missing I do not know about (which I'm guessing is quite a few if I found many randomly recently). For examples do these help? A movie was "The Wedding Contract" which you can see the info for in Emby, and in my watched history (but not collection) on Trakt. The video file was added to my collection in June of this year along with many others, and three of them were right next to each other in timestamp ("The Wedding Contract", "Uncharted", and "To All a Good Night") which do not show up in my Trakt collection but seem fine in Emby. The handful of movies before and after were all added to Trakt just fine. It appears this has happened at least three other times that I have found based on looking for things in Trakt that I thought would be there and are not (easiest to see with TV collections I am supposed to have all of but are missing random episodes). For example the M.I. High series (added in late November) shows that I have Season 1 (I have the complete series) in Emby, but in Trakt says I have a single episode in season 1, no season 2, and 8/13 for season 3...
Solution JNightOwl 0 Posted January 22 Author Solution Posted January 22 Hello, I currently have all the boxes checked, although I tinkered with them last month while trying to troubleshoot this. If there is a better setting please let me know. Speaking of settings though I have an exciting update after clicking though anything I could think of or find. In the "Scheduled Tasks" menu there is an export Library to Trakt option which is what I had originally been looking for, and clicked that with cautious optimism. It ran for a moment or so and I rushed over to Trakt to see that many of the movies I had been struggling with were now in my collection! It looks like there were even more that I wasn't tracking (my concern!), but all of the movie updates seemed to go swimmingly. 2026-01-22 21:31:07.069 Info Trakt: Movies to add to collection: 16 2026-01-22 21:31:08.278 Info HttpClient: POST https://api.trakt.tv/sync/collection 2026-01-22 21:31:08.886 Info HttpClient: Http response 201 from https://api.trakt.tv/sync/collection after 608ms 2026-01-22 21:31:08.892 Info Trakt: Movies to remove from collection: 0 2026-01-22 21:31:08.892 Info Trakt: Movies to set watched: 717 I had been checking the logs because I checked on a few of the TV shows that had been strange, and unfortunately those did not seem to get resolved with the library push. I'm going to throw a few notes here as they are related, but I'll probably do some more digging and end up seeing if anyone has Trakt ideas elsewhere. Investigating the first one is quite interesting, as "tvdb":377305 is clearly "Danger Force" and I checked Trakt and it has some of the episodes So I went to see what might be strange about a random block of those episodes, and I don't have any "Danger Force" in my collection... I have "Henry Danger" though. So somehow the initial Emby/library metadata got mixed up. That is something I can fix, but I am confused about why Trakt had an issue with it if Emby and all the id providers had it? Don't get me wrong, I'm quite glad it errored out and had me investigate, but that didn't quite make sense to me. It seems that once Emby decides it is Danger Force, it labels the whole folder that, and even though there are only 3 seasons of "Danger Force" it sends 5 seasons worth because that is how many "Henry Danger" are in the collection... The next one is a similar thing, the log says it can't find "Franklin", but it actually shows as fully collected in Trakt, but I don't have "Franklin"... I have "Franklin & Bash" . So looks like I have some media cleaning to do. I'm surprised at how many of these seem to be incorrect despite standard naming and mainstream they are. I guess I'm open to suggestions on priority of library databases or how to make that better. Thank you for reading!
