Subtitles in Upper Left Corner

My issue is somewhat different on 1.0.49 than the others.

I have an older LG C17 model.

My playback is working fine but the subtitles started going to the upper left corner after the update so I've had to turn off subtitles.  I can't see the entire subtitle, just the last few words of sentences, etc.  Hope that makes sense.

@coolspotplease also provide server logs as per link provided.

Also detail the media info including subtitle format (eg. external or embedded? SRT or ASS, etc.)

Usually they're listed as SUBRIPs and they were in this case, embedded in the MKV

I notice a lot of "Access token is invalid or expired." in the log, not sure what that is if that matters.

This happens here too. I've only tried embedded SRT files in MKV.

HI, can you provide a sample video for testing? thanks.

Hello, its the same with my LG too, i think it happened after the last update in january 8 version 4.9.3, before that it worked fine.

The quick fix was i have installed the emby diagnostics plugin which gives you the option to force subtitles to burn-in and after this the subtitles will be displayed at the right position.

I have the same issue as well; in fact, instead of Hungarian characters, the system replaces them with other characters.

The same problem persists after the latest update; the translation is now located in the top left corner of the screen. It's worth noting that this issue was not present before the update.

This happens on every MKV with embedded SRT. I've tried about 10 files. Here is one:

Note: external subtitles work fine.

This started recently and seems to coincide with the update to 4.9.3.0 on Jan 9th.

Hi, did you verify that the issue occurs with the sample? Can you please attach a larger sample? Thanks !

Agreed, happens with all of my files,

@CactusIs your TV also on the 2017 model year?  c17,b17,g17 etc?

seems like newer years can't play the files at all, but 17 (maybe others) have this odd subtitle placement issue.

Please restore the previous version while you resolve the issue with this version.

When this happens for a video, if you stop playback and then start again, does it happen the second time playing?

Yes, it's a C7 OLED from 2017.

If it helps, on an C7 OLED, I have verified that the issue appeared with server 4.9.3, but stopped when I reverted back to 4.9.1.
When I get the chance, I will try updating the server again now that I have also updated the client to 1.0.50, but it seems to be server issue.

OK that's a good sign then that this will be resolved by the same fix as this:

Thanks.

Hey there,

Just registered to post that I too am experiencing this.

I have an LG C7 (2017) too with the same issue, subtitles in the top left, doesn't matter what language it is. Weird characters showing for non-english too.

I can confirm I fixed the issue by rolling back from Emby Server 4.9.3.0 to 4.9.1.90.
I am using the latest Emby client on LG TV 1.0.50 also.

Hi, we should have a server update out to resolve this in the next few days. Thanks.

I updated to 4.10.0.1 beta and the problem remains.

I saw the note about the regression LG fix for 4.10.0.1 but the problem remained.  Wasn't sure if 4.10.0.1 was the version Luke was referring to when he said "next few days" as 4.10.0.1 seemed to come out that same day.

Maybe it's fixed in 4.10.0.2? 😃
