UsamaWaheed 8 Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Hi team, I have Emby Premiere and regularly download media to different types of devices. From the Emby guide, I understand the warning shown when selecting Original quality: “Forcing original quality may result in a download that is not playable on the device.” That makes sense when codec or container compatibility is unknown. What I’m trying to achieve, though, is a single-click download option that: Preserves original video quality (not saying need the original file just retain the quality) Does whatever conversion is necessary but automatically ensures device compatibility Questions: Is there a recommended or supported way to configure Emby so that a single “Download” action always results in a playable, original-quality file on the target device without taking a manual step of conversion/optimised version? If not currently possible, is this a known limitation or something on the roadmap? Appreciate any guidance or best-practice recommendations.
Luke 42077 Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Hi yes this is possible just not with single click. There’s an original file option and original quality. Those are two different. You don’t want to force the original file but then in the quality selection select original quality. please let us know if this helps. thanks.
UsamaWaheed 8 Posted January 7 Author Posted January 7 Hi Luke Sorry I might have misunderstood you, but I don't see original quality option. The only option I see is 'Original' on download and it has the same warning at the bottom that it might not be compatible.
Luke 42077 Posted January 7 Posted January 7 HI, sorry, my mistake. So you are correct. There is no one click way to do this. You would have to manually enter a quality that matches the original. So there is room for improvement there.
UsamaWaheed 8 Posted January 7 Author Posted January 7 Thanks for coming back so quickly. So the way to do it will be to click on custom and enter the bitrate. How can I check the bitrate of current file in Emby or I can use let's say 300 bitrate and it will automatically do the max for the file? Coming back to single click; can this be a feature request and do you reckon it will be implemented anytime soon, as all the underlying components are already there and it's just one additional drop down option.
