masta 1 Posted January 5 Posted January 5 (edited) in the Samsung tv app , i don't find the "cover" option anymore only the "fill"...the fill stretches the image , while "cover" zoomes until no black bars are present .. Btw is it possible to add back the "cover" option or to modify its zooming so that it only slightly zoomes not full zoom? or to allow the player to detect video crop metadata in .mkv's files. SamES 1056 Posted January 6 Posted January 6 I don’t believe Tizen ever had a cover option. Tizen player doesn’t allow us to have any part outside of the tv view area and we can’t crop, so cover while maintaining aspect ratio isn’t possible.

I used to use cover most of the time especially for the 4:3 videos only recently it vanished... I noticed when i run emby the native zoom function of the tv get's grayed out too ... what about the .mkv metadata , the emby player reads the display width/height changes but it not the video crop.

Can you please share with me a specific example? my model is AU8000 , the first time i installed was via usb but its been years and the app was auto updating there , this crop vanished very recently probably the last 2 updates or something i can't tell because i never look at the app versions....but I'm certain that 1 year ago it was there.. SamES 1056 Posted January 6 Posted January 6 You must have had a very old USB as the inititial versions can run indefinitely but for recent years Samsung make them expire every 30 days. The USB versions can’t auto update. it’s possible that it was enable in very old versions, I’ll have to check next week. It’s also possible that it worked on some models. I will run some tests to check What country are you in? It is probably better now that you run the store version if it is available.

It is probably better now that you run the store version if it is available. its not about the usb thing yes it did expire every 30 days but i already switched to the TV's app store version very early on and it was auto-updating since then , the cover thing disappeared recently. TV UK store 1
