Wrong audio channel when resume playing

Samsung model number:

UE65KS7500

Samsung firmware version:

260 (Tizen 2.4.0)

Samsung Emby client version:

2.2.9

Emby server version:

4.9.1.90 

 

Steps to reproduce:

1. Start watching a video with several audio channels. Choose non-default one(not the first in the list)

2. Pause a video and exit emby client(or shut down the TV)

3. Start emby client and resume watching

 

Expected: audio is the one chosen on the previous session

Actual: audio is the one that is the first in the list. At the same time in the choose box correct one is chosen.

 

Example: The fist channel is in spanish, I choose english and watch in english. Next time I start the client audio is in spanish, although english is still chosen. So in order to have english again I need to choose spanish first and then english again.

I have these setting for playback on the server side:

Please see the media info and the log file". So I am trying to watch the movie in english, but when I resume the defaut russion is picked up(Marked with ""Default: yes"").

OK what exactly makes you think the wrong track was played?

Because I was watching in english and when stop, exit app and then resume it starts in russian(although english is still chosen)

@sergeymetallic Does this issue occur on all files, or just some?

Selecting the correct audio track on playback start can be a bit tricky on tizen as we have to wait until the file is loaded for playback so that the player is aware of the additional tracks, then we need to switch tracks as soon as possible for a good user experience.  If we are too quick, then the track change is rejected by the player.

A few years ago, I spent a lot of time on this to get the timing right as there were quite a number of issues.  Since, then I don't belive any issue have been reported until this one, but I expect it is related to the timing of the track selection within the app/player.

It's also very difficult for me now to test/resolve these types of playback issues for your TV model as the KS series TV's are now 10 years old and I don't have a reliable way to test this type of issue, so I suspect I'm more likely to braek rather than fix things.

I know it's a bit of a nuisance, but I'm not sure that I'm going to be able to fix this one. Sorry.

Except this issue Emby is just awesome and I have zero lags. I suspected that it is a time to upgrade, but had a hope that the issue can be fixed. I can provide any assistance and beta testing, but maybe you are right and that is not worth it.

Based on your sample file, it does look like it's a timing issue on these older models.  I've add a single retry attempt after one second if the first attempt fails. Please test the next update and see whether that helps.

I would expect the USB version to be updated in the next few weeks - you can test that and let me know how it goes

Today I downloaded the new version from https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/raw/master/tizen/tizen.zip , I see files are dated 29/01/2026(I suspect version 2.3.1). App installed fine but when I try to start it it shows the loading indicator for a moment but otherwise just a logo on the black screen forever. I tried to delete/install, restart my TV. Nothing helps, meanwhile the app store version works just fine. I see these lines in my logs:

Have you got 2 KS series TVs or just 1? 
 

It looks like you had version 2.3.1 and are now trying to load 2.2.5

Do you have both the store and usb versions installed? Doing this shouldn’t be an issue, but maybe it is causing some issues. 
 

Try uninstalling both versions, power cycle the TV then install the preferred version. Unless you need to troubleshoot a specific issue, or urgently need a new feature I would stick with the store version for that model while it continues to receive store updates. 
 

2.2.5 is the latest store version and 2.2.8 is with Samsung for testing. The USB version number gets ahead of the store version as we have to update it every month due to the built in expiry from Samsung, but that doesn’t mean there are necessarily functional changes. 
 

Once there are important updates and features then a store version is submitted.  
 

Having said that, if you want to first test the USB version and provide feedback as if there are issues on this older model, it is a good opportunity for us to resolve it before a store version is submitted.

@SamES In past I had the store version and then I installed 2.2.9 via USB and it worked great. Then I wanted to test the fix you made for audio channel in th eversion 2.3.1(Improve error handling on audio track changes). So I installed an update via USB and got the problem I described. Then I unintalled all the versions, power cycled my TV and installed the latest version via USB - problem is still present. Then I installed the store version and it did not work either untill I removed USB version and re-installed the store version.

 

Interesting observation: USB version does not have "View details" active and marked with white question mark(see photos). When I start USB version I get a screen with the logo and nothing changes. If I press down and then "Ok" I get some menu you can see on the first screenshot, but selecting and pressing Ok just returns me to the black screen with logo. 

I attached new log for today with my experiment if that could help.

For now I stay with the store version but I really want to test audio channel fix.

Thanks. I can reproduce this on older models. You will have to run with the store app for now until we can get out a fix for this
