Stabie 7 Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Hi Emby team, I’m a frequent user of the Emby app on Android (both tablet and phone), and I would love to see some refinements to the playback gestures to bring it more in line with modern video player standards (like YouTube/Netflix). 1. Long press for 2x speed It would be amazing if we could press and hold on the right side of the screen during playback to temporarily toggle 2x speed. As soon as you let go, it returns to normal speed. This is a very intuitive way to skip through slow segments without digging into menus. 2. Slide to seek at the bottom of the UI I’d like to suggest a sliding gesture for fine-tuned seeking. For example, dragging your thumb across the bottom of the screen to skip forward or backward in small increments (e.g., 5-second jumps). This feels much more fluid than tapping a button repeatedly. Remember to have it close to the right in landscape mode, it has to feel natural when holding both a phone or a tablet. 3. UI Sensitivity & Double-tap to skip I’ve noticed that when double-tapping to skip forward, the UI (playback controls) often triggers and stays visible very easily. Improvement: When double-tapping to skip, the UI should ideally remain hidden. Currently, it feels a bit too sensitive—if the first tap is registered slightly differently, the whole UI pops up and obscures the video. It would be great if the skip function could be "isolated" from the UI-toggle as much as possible for a cleaner experience. Thanks for all the great work on the app!
